They're giving away a free month starting on 10/28 (though it looks like something you'll have to unsub from not to automatically get billed.)
The ads on YouTube have become increasingly annoying - I believe I got the same video ad on five straight videos the other day - but $10 seems too high just to remove them. Original content sounds good, but there's so much good content out there I have no time to watch that it really has to be something spectacular to move the needle for me. Maybe I'd feel differently if I wasn't still a TV-first person; people who just watch YouTube all day (or especially those who use YouTube as their music service) might get more out of it.
I do generally like that they're trying to find another way to pay people who are using this service.

Agreed. Before I read the post, I saw the headline and immediately thought of a porn service. I mean, I knew it wasn't going to be, but that's where my mind went. Maybe I'm showing my biases.
