How can that happen? They'd have to get past the Tribe first!

I'm not trying to get too excited, because this could just be July 18th all over again. Both have Baltimore and Toronto left, and then end the season in THE MOTHER OF ALL (division) WARS, so scheduling isn't so much of a factor either.

They've won 9 of their last 10, let's just hope the Yanks don't cool off.

I am still unimpressed by the Yankees. And this is a die-hard Yankee fan talking. I'm thinking they drop the ALCS.

Wow, I never knew how much fun it was to nay-say the Yanks.

1996 called. They want their World Series back. I mean, honestly, we don't really want the Braves choking in the playoffs yet again, do we? (Although they have pretty much sealed up the division... maybe they'll do something with it this year?)

Right now, who would they go up against in the divisional series? Cleveland?

Cleveland at New York - New York won the season series 4-3.
Los Angeles at Chicago White Sox

I would not want to see the Tribe if I was any one of the teams in contention. Granted most of them have good records against the Tribe, but the wins all came at the beginning of the year when the Tribe couldn't hit anything.

Boston - won series 4-2
Oakland - lost series 3-6
LA Angels - won series 5-3

edit - also in the NL, for what it's worth -
San Diego at St. Louis
Houston at Atlanta

It's good to see that the WWE isn't backing away from Batista or Cena. There's still some questions lingering over a few of the draft moves they either made or didn't make (Jericho being a prime example), but the stage is set for a solid run to Summerslam that may send the indicator down. The longer Triple H stays away is also a plus...

You knew Jaret Wright was throwing puss up to the plate when even John Sterling stated he was struggling. Please pitch him again. That would give the Red Sox at least 1 game to play with before the final scene of the Holy War begins next Friday. Pitching match-ups are: Wang vs. Wells, Johnson vs. Schilling, Mussina vs. Wakefield. 8 games left, 1 home/7 road New York, 1 road/7 home Boston, dead heat in the standings. For some reason, everything will end on October 2nd yet again, 27 years later. For some reason, I see Ortiz in the Yaz spot, Rivera in the Gossage spot, tying and winning run on base, and we see whether history repeats itself or has really been changed.

I just don't get it. I was listening to Sterling in the car too, and he kept repeating how Wright was on a short leash. I first thought they should have sent in Small when the liner hit Wright in the chest. I was somewhat ok with Torre leaving him in to start the second, but after the first single I would have yanked him. After the second single, I threw up in my mouth when they didn't come out to get him. Following the walk, I reached over, put on a CD, and just hoped Boston would lose, since Torre was obviously getting in touch with his inner Grady Little. If Small does not start on Thursday at Camden Yards, I will pray for explanations to follow.

The Yankees get to go to Baltimore and pick the bones of the Orioles, while the Sox have to deal with the Blue Jays at Fenway. Deuling sweeps are possible, but the likelier scenario has the Yankees up one with three to play at Fenway.

"He is the most overrated piece of crap in the league. He bitched and whined after he got his ass beaten in New England last year, so the NFL changed the rules. Then he got his ass beaten in New England again. Every year he's the top MVP candidate. Every year he's supposed to be the best. Every year he's going to carry the Colts to the Super Bowl. And every single year he goes to New England and gets his ass beaten. And his brother's a whiny little bitch." -A friend of mine, on Peyton Manning
