It has just been announced that Paul London has signed a deal with World Wrestling Entertainment. Whether or not he's going to Ohio Valley Wrestling is unclear, but the Ring of Honor star will be allowed to compete for them one last time - on July 19th in Elizabeth, NJ against ROH Champion Samoa Joe.

Trained in Shawn Michaels' Texas Wrestling Academy, London has been all over the place competing, especially for ROH where he became a cult hero through his feud with fellow TWA'er Michael Shane. He also had some shots with NWA-TNA in their X-Division.

More details as they become available...

WWE better be serious about pushing this guy, that's all I have to say. He's way too talented and deserves better than jobbing to A-Train on Velocity every week.

Anyone who's seen his work knew that this was inevitable. He has a tremendous amount of potential to be great. Whether or not he'll be allowed to achieve that is another question.

The WWE almost has to push the cruiser division now. Spanky, Noble, Moore, Kidman, Mysterio, Dragon, Tajiri, Nunzio, London; pick any two out of those names and you're almost guaranteed to have a good match. To have that much talent to create an entertaining midcard and not use it is just moronic.

I was just thinking the same thing. You know, it would be interesting to see (not that McMahon would ever the guts to try this) a cruisers only PPV, just to see how it compares with the star-studded Vengeance PPV. Betcha anything it would sell better -- just from fans of pure wrestling alone -- than the Steph vs Sable and Vince vs Zak crap they're pushing down our throat right now.

It's funny, seeing Kidman working with the new 'do last night, I was thinking that he kind of looked like London now.
Huh, random thought, the new team of London & Kidman, The Shooting Stars.
Or not.

I thought the same thing when I first heard they signed London. Imagine them as a tag team and pulling off stereo SSP's!

But with the plan of turning Kidman heel, I doubt it'll happen. I wouldn't mind seeing Spanky and London teaming up and going after The World's Greatest Tag Team (or BEST.TAG TEAM.EVER as I like to call them now) and giving them a run for their money.

I don't know about the idea of an all cruiser PPV, but it is a fun idea. You know what they could do instead? Just make Velocity a strictly Cruiser show. You can have 3 or 4 great matches there a week, Vince can just stick A-Train, DeMott, etc. as the Smackdown mid-card matches.....

...ok, maybe it's not a great idea. But if they want to test out going full force with the cruiser division, Velocity is a good start. It could also bring in more ratings for the weekend shows.

I just hope they don't neuter London of the SSP just because Kidman does it already. The London Calling looks so much more smooth than Kidman's.

SHIT! Well, I'm happy for him, but as a fan I just say DAMMIT TO HELL! He will never get a chance to do anything as fun as his ROH or TNA work now, instead if he's lucky working 4 minutes squashes to Chuck Palumbo. ARGH!

and maybe I should open up my sensitive side/but really, the sensitive side sucks./I've been there./You can only imagine the kinds of sweaters they make you wear.

London will never be allowed to use his SSP in the WWE. All the cruiserweights are forced to wrestle like mini-mat wrestlers.

Ah, but he did attmept it, against Matt Hardy a few weeks back on Velocity. Granted, this was before Kidman returned, but still...

That's cool for Paul London but they're never gonna push Cruiserweights. They'll throw him out on TV, he won't get a reaction, and they'll say he's too small to get over.

We've just been burned too many times with WWE and their use of Cruisers.

Yeah, they really seemed to have tied an anchor to Rey Mysterio. What in God's name are you talking about?

That is what I was going to say. Paul London is too good to be totally wasted. I saw him on Velocity and thought to myself he was more talented than most Cruisers on the WWE roster. Now he can get a chance to show that talent off to a larger audience.

I seen him in a couple of matches on TNA, the guy is a phenom. Thus, he will become he will become a rug for Albert, Billy Gunn and the APA to walk on.

Sorry about being cynical, but WWE can do that to you.

What are you talking about? WWE is VERY serious about the cruiserweight thing now. Just look at the wonders they did for Spanky and... oh, wait.

As long as they don't pull a Staziak(sp?) with this guy, I'll be happy to see him. They said he "had" ton of potential.

As much as we wish he did, he doesn't. JR is in charge of recruiting talent, but he doesn't make the call on who to push. While he can RECRUIT and HIRE guys like Paul London, the decision to push these guys ultimately lies with Vince McMahon and the alleged "creative" team. And while Vince McMahon favors HOSSES and as long as the guys underneath him remain spineless yes men, a Paul London will never truly have the opportunity to break out. He's more than likely doomed to suffer the same fate as Spanky.

That's seriously too bad. I remember seeing Paul London on a recent TNA PPV pull off a picture perfect RUNNING SHOOTING STAR CLOTHESLINE OFF THE APRON! Talent like that doesn't come along everyday and it almost makes me cringe to think that London will be forced to wrestle "WWE style" or never get past jobbing on Velocity.

I guess upon further thought, this news kinda bums me out. I'm sure Paul London must be thrilled, but as a fan, I can't be happy about this. I'd seriously rather see Paul London chase after Chris Sabin and the X Division title or put on a clinic for Ring of Honor than see him get squashed by some talentless lunk on one of WWE's B-shows.

While I can understand you bemoaning the loss of a wrestler's unique style and the fact that his size will probably keep him from being a success in WWE, why would you want someone using such a contrived maneuver in a match? I love cruisers as much as the next smark but an SSP Clothesline is almost RVDesque in its ridiculousness.

As mentioned I was impressed with what little I've seen of London. What I took out from his match is that he had some great spots and was a great seller seemed to have good charisma. So I am curious how would you guys rank his other aspects. As far as Ring Psychology, Technical...etc etc!

Oh yeah I saw it, bigger fan of the lingerie then bikinis, so it's a definite good 'read' Trish had a nice mix from classy(long black silk evening gown, my personal fav) to silly (with the blocks). I like the tube top as well with the fishnets.
