Jim Cornette, for however much you value his opinion, stated you could rehash the same angle after seven to ten years because it would have been so long since the last time it would seem fresh.
The issue is that all those angles that they rehash they directly refer to when doing on TV to allude to a Network subscription, where you can see pretty much all of WWE's storylines dating back to 1985 and most of WCW's dating back to the early 90's, and when you see those storylines happening then and how they parallel what you see now, it doesn't seem fresh at all.
Nostalgia is a great thing for selling tickets sparingly, but overused and it makes everything new instantly stale.
