MLB.tv is great. The only reason I don't subscribe to it full-time is because of the local blackouts. I'm a Dodger fan and live in the Dodgers market, so no Dodgers games on the service. If they ever dropped that practice, I'd get MLB.tv, the WWE Network, Netflix, and Hulu and kick cable to the curb for good.
Still don't know where you're getting the other $120 from, lotjx.
Does anyone use MLB.tv? Apparently this is modeled after that and will use the same infrastructure.
I've used this a little. They're the industry leader in this method - both in always having enough bandwidth and in getting the app everywhere.
As an Angels fan in NY, I think MLB.TV is really great. The quality is really awesome, and the interface, at least for the PS3 app, is really nice and feature filled. And the price is pretty reasonable ($120 for the whole season - pro-rated as the season progresses. I think it was around $70 if you waited until the All-Star break to sign up).
I've had some minor issues here and there, but nothing that would prevent me from renewing. Point being, this is a good sign if they're going this direction.
HEY. Here's my question. Will I be able to stream this through my Blu Ray, a la Netflix, or will I have to sit in front of my computer or do some nonsense with cables like a dope!? Because if I can stream it, you know...I might do it. Whereas there is zero chance I would actually pay to watch a PPV live on TV, as I haven't since WMX8.
Helen Keller was largely useless, and look how we remember her.
It's supposed to be on all major media streamers. I don't know specifics, but I'd assume Xbox, PS3/4, Roku, maybe Apple TV, TiVo (please)

Or, WWE doesn't want everyone talking about all the details before the Jan. 8 event.

The idea seems to be a la Netflix, but I don't if it's possible to add apps to Blu Ray players after they're out. So you might have to pick up something new.
Originally posted by AlbySureIs there any concerns about streaming problems for live shows a la ROH iPPVs? Are the WWE.com PPV streams usually reliable?
Last year's WrestleMania had streaming issues like the ROH iPPVs.
MLB Advanced Media does the back end for the NCAA Basketball Tournament, which seems comparable to WWE PPVs in terms of a lot of people watching the same stream at the same time. They can probably handle it, depending on how much WWE is paying.

I love MLB.tv because I don't live in my team's market but you're right, MLB's blackout restrictions are insane. My sister lives in Buffalo, NY and it's considered in Pittsburgh's market so she can't watch Pirates games.
I'll agree with the fact that Stone Cold and The Rock are Icons (and now, so is Triple H in the company's eyes). Back in the day, Foley, Bret Hart and the Undertaker were icons, too. Icons can come back without having to work off the ring rust down south....
