John Laurinaitis was in Louisville this morning and told everyone that WWE was dropping its affiliation with OVW. This was not a shock, as it had been clear they were setting up Florida to be the sole developmental territory. Laurinaitis told the wrestlers under contract that all would be moved to Florida over the next few weeks and thanked Danny Davis for all his work in training Batista, John Cena and Randy Orton. With the closing, Al Snow has been released. With so many WWE officials living in the Tampa area, it made logical sense to have the developmental talent there to keep close tabs on them.
Almost every new WWE wrestler over the last half decade has spent some time in OVW, training to be better.
I wonder if the promotion will go on without the WWE deal. I'd imagine it'd be much closer to it's Derby City Wrestling show, since only the unsigned talent will be left, but those people were in Louisville in hopes to get noticed and signed. Florida's the place for that now.
This is weird. Just yesterday, after someone posted something in the Nathan Jones thread about sending him to OVW, I almost posted something along the lines of "Didn't WWE sever their ties with OVW?". I guess I was just feeling prophetic yesterday. I should have bought Lotto tickets.
Quite honestly, this is the only regular wrestling show I watch anymore, so I hope all it means is that they lose the WWE guys but continue on. Damn.
Of course, if it means the return of Jack Bull then I'm ALL FOR IT!!!!!
