I got this! I haven't played it enough to have intelligent opinions but that has neer stopped me before.
YES YES YES - The gameplay is basically the same as last year. I liked that well enough. The timing is off on reversals but I assume I'll pick that up quickly enough. - The old-timey graphics and filters for older Wrestlemanias are neat. It's weird to put modern guys in that setting. - 100 CAW spots! Awesome. - I don't want to jinx anything, but the Community Creations server worked like a charm yesterday. My first download was a Goldust complete with pink breast cancer gloves. - There are some minor tweaks to the overall experience that make things smoother. Too dorky to explain and most people wouldn't notice them anyway. - Very few of the Achievements require you to play online. Good. Other people are awful
NO NO NO - There are some weird little things that break the illusion of the older Wrestlemanias. Things like Hogan and Bundy in the ring at Mania 2 as the big blue cage is lowered from the ceiling. I assume the game just handles cage matches in one way regardless of setting. Understandable, and really more funny than anything. - They removed the Championship Scramble match type! I think I was the only person that liked that (in the game or real life), but still.
I'll update this as I think of more stuff. Anyone else pick this up?
It should arrive today. I can't wait to play. Still waiting for my email from Amazon with the Ultimate Warrior code.
I liked Championship Scramble too! Bummer.
I've seen some videos of the classic Wrestlemania stuff. The biggest illusion breaker is the commentary, but at least, from what I heard, it's scripted for the specific match. Oh, and saying "WWE" all the time, but I can get past that.
I thought I could get away with not pre-ordering like in previous years. Oops! Hopefully, Warrior becomes unlockable down the road. I'd even settle for paying a little extra for it. I guess 2K is more on it than THQ was.
So far, no drastic changes from years prior. I think the rivalry mode overkills it a little with the timing of feuds and how often wrestlers face each other, but I do like Universe mode overall. The WrestleMania mode is pretty fun. I like where that's going so far and it seems to have enough historical perspective.
Unless there's a workaround I haven't figured out, I really wish you could vacate titles and then hold King of the Ring tournaments for the belts. I don't like how it drops you into Universe Mode every year and I wish I had more flexibility to build my own RAW and Smackdown with their own histories.
Whatever, it's dumb. It's hard to split my time between this and GTAV.
It'll be about a month before I can pick it up, so I've got a couple questions: Are WCW arenas easy enough to create in the game, and is Drew McIntyre's "Broken Dreams" theme in the game?

Heeheeheehee. Now for a real irresistible force meets immovable object match: King Kong Bundy defending the WWF Championship against Andre the Giant at WrestleMania III!

-Defeat the Streak is nigh impossible. Undertaker just murders you. -There's a list of Wrestlemania Victims in Streak Mode. Giant Gonzales and Psycho Sid's names are omitted. The spaces are just blank. Weird. (Also, Albert is listed as Tensai.) -I'm hoping I can edit Daniel Bryan's entrance. His screaming "No!" at the crowd seems dated. -I love that the theme songs are the menu music now.

You can download other people's created arenas if you want. I saw a Nitro one last night. And I don't think Broken Dreams is in there but in older games, you could easily add themes to the game. I bet you could do that here.

I haven't tried it, but I've heard that if you set him as a good guy, he changes to YES chants.

That's how I felt when Ultimate Warrior returned and lost clean to the Khali chop.

In past years, the pre-order exclusive was eventually made available as paid DLC. It just takes a few months.

That seems like an easy fix with a patch.
Is this the first time this game mode has been in any WWe game? Why hasn't Sid been in more of these games, is he mad at Vince too? They need to add a DLC for this with Jimmy Snuka, Giant Gonzalez, Sycho Sid, and Big Boss Man. The free DLC should be Albert, sense Tensai is already in the game.
I hope this game gets a two year run on the Xbox 360/PS3. I know 2k will make WWe 2K15 next year, but I hope its only for the Xbox1 and PS4. Then 2K just assigns a small staff to release 3-4 DLC for this in 2014-15.
Seconded on the "grainy" graphics feel. I like that they went that direction, since I loved it in Tiger Woods 14, and really like it here.
I feel like one of the fortunate ones to get their Ultimate Warrior code to work, since I'm reading all over the place on the web of people having problems. He looks great, but he still has the same goofy run to the ring that he had in Legends Of WrestleMania. His best running to the ring was in All Stars, IMO.
Up to WM28 at 30 Years Of WM. The toughest matches, for me, are ones where triggering a WM Moment is required. For Austin-Rock at WM19, especially, it was heck trying to do so. Otherwise, they're very blunt and clear of what you need to do, and it's not that hard to do so. Easier than a lot of the Attitude Era tasks from last year.
Oh, and the AI is much improved. I only play Normal mode most of the time, and after two weeks of Universe, I've had some good MOTYC-type matches happen (Cena-Rollins, Ziggler-Punk, Jericho-Kane to name a few).
Originally posted by ekedolphinThe general advice I'm hearing about Beat the Streak mode is simply, "Use Roman Reigns, and don't try to kick Undertaker while he's down."

No dice. There is a "Daniel Bryan Yes!" entrance, but then the crowd doesn't chant. I can live with him saying "no."
Had a fun alternate reality moment in Wrestlemania IV. I got through all the objectives and went for the pin after Hogan hit DiBiase with the chair and DiBiase kicked out! So, I quickly went for the big elbow, and Andre took a swipe at me. He missed, the elbow connected, and I got the win. I like that finish better, since it feels more like Savage won on his own.
I'll probably buy this eventually because I enjoyed Attitude era last year and 100 CAW spots is awesome but I really want there to be a great Universe mode. Any improvements?
I'm teetering on the brink of shelling out the cash for this, especially because the Wrestlemania mode is getting rave reviews. But I play a lot of single-player so my big concern is the AI. WWE games have had some pretty bad AI and difficulty settings over the past few years (SDvR11 was truly awful, WWE12 was only slightly better), where it's too easy to win on the highest difficulty. So how's the AI this time around? Is it better than the previous installments? Is it more of a challenge to win?

I've only been playing on normal difficulty so far. In Wrestlemania mode, the A.I. tends to vary. King Kong Bundy reversed everything, but Ted DiBiase just kinda stood there.
In Exhibition, I did a six-man with Dolph, Punk, and Bryan against the Shield and I got my ass handed to me.
Rope breaks in 30 Years of Wrestlemania mode are killing me. (Can't get the hang of moving guys away from the ropes.)
I had all of the numerous historical objectives checked off in Bret/Shawn from WM XII, but Bret was closer to the ropes than he looked and...rope break! He quickly hit me with moves I couldn't reverse and pinned me.
That match requires some time too. It isn't a full 60 minutes, but it still takes about 20-30 minutes to do it right. (It feels like 5 minute increments are compressed to 1-2 minutes.)

It's smart business Eke. This is how Walmart and other mega-corps operate. They will do anything, even take a loss, to get customer loyalty and market share.
