When dealing with a high-slide, and no helmet, the most common injuries are to the head, back and anywhere else not covered with leathers (road rash). Best case is that he high-slided the curb into grass and not more pavement.
He, and Browns fans, better hope he didn't aggravate that leg.

My guess was that someone lent him a bike for some riding time. I'd like to see your first time with no formal training.

I don't think I know anyone who rides who hasn't laid their bike down at one point or another, its part of learning.
The real kicker is that its being reported that Winslow stands to lose up to 9.5 million in bonuses as he has a no motorcycle clause in his contract.
As a general matter, Winslow has breached Paragraph 3 of his contract, which prevents him from "engag[ing] in any activity other than football which may involve a significant risk of personal injury."
And this breach could have significant consequences. Winslow's motorcycling allows the team (if it so chooses) to recover $5 million of his initial signing bonus and the full $4.4125 million of his option bonus triggered at the outset of the 2005 league year, $2.4125 million of which won't actually be paid to Winslow until July 15.
So the total potential price tag on Winslow's deliberate failure to comply with the terms of his contract is a whopping $9.4125 million.
Under the contract, Winslow becomes potentially responsible to pay back the bonus money due to "injury as a result of a breach of Paragraph 3 of the Contract" or "as a result of participation in hazardous activities which involve a significant risk of personal injury and are non-football in nature, including but not limited to skydiving, hang gliding, mountain climbing, auto racing, motorcycling, scuba diving, or skiing." (Emphasis added.)
The clause is in his contract, he knew about it, and THEN he decided to learn to ride? Doesn't sound like he was a true biker to begin with, or he would've fought the Browns putting it in there.
And no permit first, either...what a schmuck. Get a permit, take your local DOT-approved safety course (often lets you skip the DOT road test when you get the real license), and STRAP YOUR DAMNED BRAIN BUCKET ON.
And Zeruel...props, man, but you must be the exception. Everybody I know, including me, laid it down at least once in the early years. Thank God I was barely moving...cost me a good windshield, though. I had to trade my '80 Suzuki GS450S (crappy li'l cafe racer) for a good replacement.
But now it's all about my '92 Virago 1100, so all is on. :-)

Not to drift too far from the No Limit Soldier, but I've had my fair share of close calls, TRUST me.
2001, coming home from community college, it started to drizzle and after taking a right turn, everyone in front of me suddenly stops. I was just starting to ride on a small bridge for a creek, and there was a long metal beam in the pavement and I just happened to be riding on it and when i hit my breaks, I skidded just a tad and felt the rear tire shimmy back and forth. I was lucky to not drop it there and from the sound of the screeching tires from behind, I was lucky to not get rear-ended.
2002, different bike, I take a tight uphill curve, about 30 MPH and skid a tad on acorns in the road (fallen from the Oak tree above the road) and nearly lost it there
2003, at 3am, I came about six inches away from hitting a deer that leaps into the road and then STOPS.
Sept 2004, 3rd week of the semester, taking a left turn from the inside lane to enter the University of Maryland, the jerk on the outside lane decides to pass me and then try to cut me off at the last moment to avoid a stopped bus. I honk, kick his rear drivers side tire hub, swerve into oncoming traffic and just miss getting hit there and speed up, flip him off, and park and fume for a bit. Fucker was on his cell phone. He nearly clobbers someone in the traffic circle in his huge Ford LTD P.O.S.
Luckily I haven't been hit by the dreaded Left-Turning-Car. Had a close call once.
Sadly, in the DC area, MANY people go down and in one of the Yahoo DC Biker clubs, three riders have died this year, but they were the type of people that took their Hayabusas to 150+ MPH on the beltway and pull wheelies in the middle of the pothole, crime, and traffic ridden New York and Pennsylvania Aves.
Back to Winslow. It would amaze me if he didn't know that he couldn't ride. It's in his contract and it's his duty to have his agent explain all that's in it, or read it himself.
If his agent failed to inform him of this clause, then I'd get a new agent and read everything before signing.
After the whole "I'm a soldier!" bit, I thought his dad was going to keep an eye on him. Where was he this whole time? I know JR. is a grown man, but he's made stupid mistakes in the past and it looks like he'll keep making them. Maybe in a few years from now, it won't be the "Ryan Leaf Draft Bust Thread" here and it will be the "Kellen Winslow JR Draft Bust Thread."

His agents are the Postons, the same guy who failed to read Arrington's contract prior to signing, the same guys who F'ed up Winslows contract by having his future roster bonuses tied into performance incentives when they generaly are strictly given for being on the roster. He already stands to lose 5.3 million for not playing 35% of last years offensive plays should the team decide not to pay.
I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't know about the motorcyle clause, but then again I wouldn't be surprised if he just ignored it.

well yea, im not saying id do any better, im just saying that i wouldnt try going 35mph in a parking lot...come on, u gotta admit if its his first time or something thats just stupid
The "no motorcycle" clause in Jay Williams' contract was never enforced; the Bulls and Jay instead had a typical contract settlement for a current deal, with the Bulls paying some but not all of the money to end it.
At the time, it was seen more as 'doing the right thing', but the Bulls could've thought the termination clause would not hold up in court. I can't think of one being tested, out of the (unsettled) Neagle deal

Oh, it would have held up. I think the Bulls did it the way that they did so that if Williams ever does come back, he'll be inclined to re-sign with the Bulls because they didn't hammer him on it.

Yankees were able to terminate Aaron Boone's contract after he blew out his knee playing basketball, which was a prohibited activity in his contract.
