Will Farrell will be doing a four episode arc on The Office as Steve Carell leaves, and he's gonna stick around a little bit after Michael Scott is gone. As stunts go to keep people tuning in, this is mighty stunty indeed. But it should also be funny.
This could be funny or awful. Remember Jack Black and Jessica Alba?
Maybe once I get over the "hey it's big Hollywood star Will Ferrell on The Office" factor I might like it. Part of their charm has been not needing big names to get laughs. We'll have to see.
Jack Black wasn't really a character on the show in as much as he was a character 'in a show on the show'. Kathy Bates was probably the latest example, and she worked well I thought.
"All RAW is these days is a cheap version of Saturday Night Live, so if you wanna tune in to watch the amazing star power of Al Sharpton and Nancy O'Dell, go ahead! Who's gonna host next week, Big Bird? Wow, that's must-see TV!" - John Morrison (10/16/09 Smackdown!)
This list is incomplete without Undergrads and Downtown, which spawned my ability to state the rules of Risk at auctioneer speed and Megas CLR, respectively.
