I was pointing out that the WWE uses "red-blooded" as a code word for heterosexual, and I shouldn't have to explain why that's offensive . . .
. . . but I will . ..
Out of one side of their mouths, WWE says "Support the troops, dammit!" Out of the other side, they say that only heterosexual men are "red-blooded" Americans.
Apparently, WWE only supports the heterosexual troops.
I know WWE didn't exactly invent the expression, but that's irrelevant. I'm pointing out that it is (especially in times like now) a rather condescending and ungrateful thing to say, and you shouldn't perpetuate the expression.
That's all.
Uh yikes, OK.
I get what you're saying I guess, but I honestly was never aware of 'red-blooded' being in anyway a homophobic term. If anything, 'red-blooded' to me has connotations of a male who acts on basic, primal instincts and would in fact be a remark that was derogatory toward the heterosexuals at which it was directed.
At the risk of saying something akin to "but some of my best friends are gay" I'm pretty sure I've heard homosexuals use the term without a second thought, and I'm certain I must have done in the past without eyebrows being raised.
I dunno, it strikes me as political correctness gone mad to be honest. I never got the impression that the wwe was 'only supporting heterosexuals' but maybes you guys get different promos to what we do over here. Lets put it down to cultural differences and move on.

but just for the sake of completeness, allow me to clarify why I think WWE means "heterosexual" when they say "red-blooded":
JR: "What red-blooded American male wouldn't want to see Stacy Kiebler in a bikini?"
A gay red-blooded American male, JR.
. . . but I do understand that it might not strike other people the same way it strikes me.

WILD show! Shield v. Evolution was my favorite. Seth Rollins is a crazy man! Cena/Wyatt was nearly ruined by all the interference, but I for one liked the ending, spooky voice and all. Bryan/Kane was good, too.
