In the process of retiring a Nokia E71 after 2 years of great service. This was a truly great phone.

Being replaced with an iPhone 4 which is supposed to turn up this week.

Scorn and Lemming comments aside, the upgrade decision was fairly much a no-brainer. For about the same monthly money, I got an increased cap (therefore more calls, SMS, etc.) and a shed load more data (100Mb to 1.5Gb per month). Given that the battery on the E71 is starting to slow down, it was a pretty easy decision.

Got a free Droid Incredible last night. Best Buy has them for free when you switch to Verizon. I've been with Sprint for ten years, so decided to switch. I love it so far. It's a huge step up from my five year old flip phone.

Am I in Horseville? Because I'm hearing nothing but naysayers!

In the span of a couple of months I traded up from a $20 Nokia prepaid burner to a Nokia N86 to an HTC Vision (aka T-Mobile G2).

My point and shoot camera died so I figured I'd get a phone with a great camera, plus GPS just in case I ever need it. The Nokia N86 had an AMAZING camera, but after using it for about a month I found the laggy software to be too annoying. The GPS also never really worked properly, and I did a lot of reading and trying various suggestions to get it going.

I had some experience with Android from buying, rooting, and flashing custom ROMs to a Nook Color. So, I sold the Nokia N86, sold the Nook Color, and picked up the Vision/G2. I love having this thing, and I don't even have a mobile data plan for it. Great games, great having photos on a clear crisp screen, great note-taking abilities with both typing (great physical keyboard!) and voice recording. The screen is just large enough to read digital comics on. I like having an actual file structure. The camera is basically a low-end point and shoot, but I have a DSLR for important things anyway, so it's good enough. GPS took a bit of setup, but works well enough for my use. Plus, just being able to have maps stored offline helps out immensely. Google Goggles, and CamScanner still blow my mind every time I use them. I know many have been using these devices for years, but I'm still amazed by it all.

I don't want to derail the thread, so if this would work better in a different forum, let me know. But I'm wondering what people think the long term scenario is for newspapers.
