I was giving my soon-to-be stepson a ride home from basketball practice last night and we were talking about how he spent 7 hours snowboarding last Saturday, and is now looking forward to spending all this coming weekend SKATEboarding. I love this state.

Have you blamed the "arctic air coming dowm from Canada?"

Weathermen LOVE doing that. :)

Well, that is where all of our cold, crappy weather comes from. We need to place blame where it belongs. :)

They apparently should have had the Super Bowl in MN instead of JAX.

The forecast for the next two days:

Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 47. West wind around 8 mph becoming southeast.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 28. Southeast wind between 7 and 13 mph.

Saturday: Partly cloudy, with a high around 48. South wind between 15 and 17 mph.

and then after that we're back in the mid-twenties again, but I can deal with that. Hell, I woke up at 3 am this morning to get a drink of water, and the thermometer outside the kitchen window said 36 degrees.

At 3 am.

On February 4th.

In Minnesota.

Sorry. It's just baffling, but I'm diggin' it.

On a similar note, being that I live in Seattle I naturally get this a lot, either from out-of-towners on the phone or if I travel (like BOTH times I went to Las Vegas last week): "Rains a lot, huh?"

LAST SEVEN DAYS from weather.com:

012805 - High 53, Precip 0.01"
012905 - High 49, Precip NONE
013005 - High 52, Precip 0.01"
013105 - High 55, Precip NONE
020105 - High 55, Precip NONE
020205 - High 63, Precip NONE
020305 - High 54, Precip NONE

Of course, TODAY it's raining.

As long as you use the term "Alberta Clipper". We love that.

A month ago when we were having -40 temperatures, the meteorologists were blaming Siberia(!), so it's nice to know we have someone to blame as well.

You know what, though? Given that it rains FAR less that I thought it would before I moved here two years ago, I'll take it. Nobody at home (in Atlanta) believes me when I call them to report when it's 65 and sunny out here. In February, no less.

I don't know what Minnesota CRZ is living in. When I lived there it was the "Hooray! Winter is back! We can drive across all the lakes and ponds now and cut 30 minutes off our drive time!" Minnesota.

Or that old joke:

"So, when does the Winter Festival end?"
"When it hits thirty below."
"Why thirty below?"
"Because at that point even vasaline won't keep the trumpet player's lips unstuck from the trumpet."

-Jag

It's still god-awful humid in the summer though, right?

I look at all the choices I've made these past few years, and it seems like I've been playing "Marty-ball" with my life. Ugh.

Usually, but last summer was unusually mild, only a few 90+ degree days with humidity.

And at the time, I remember the weathercasters on the TV saying that a mild summer was usually an indicator of a mild winter, and darn it all if they weren't right. I'M LOVIN' IT

Speaking of mild weather...in Barrie, Ontario...we had highs of 7C and 8C this weekend.

So much for the February blues or blahs, or whatever they're called.

I've seen the following movies so far this year:
