InsideHoops.Com is apparently serious about putting in a bid to buy the New Jersey Nets franchise, and is offering their visitors a chance to own a stake in the team as well (of course, you need to have at least ten thousand bucks readily available) ...
"InsideHoops.com is interested in helping to organize a purchase of the New Jersey Nets and has now spoken to two large potential investors to discuss the possibilities. In addition, InsideHoops.com is inviting fans to buy in and own a sliver of the team. Whether you or your company can spare as little as $10,000 or millions, contact us. Imagine an NBA team owned by hundreds or thousands of caring people interested in a profit who also love basketball, with a fairly elected board of directors led by experienced majority investors calling the shots. That's our goal - professional ownership with caring fans as co-owners. Spread the word. Time is short. After five days of calling attention to this, InsideHoops.com visitors have pledged around $600,000 and like the idea of owning a sliver of the team." InsideHoops.com
Want to own your own pro sports franchise? Want to fire Byron Scott or trade Kenyon Martin?
Now's your chance.
Jeff Lenchiner, editor of InsideHoops.com, a popular Web site devoted to NBA news and rumors, is proposing that his readers and InsideHoops.com purchase the New Jersey Nets.
He's serious.
On his site, Lenchiner asks anybody who can afford $10,000 or more to contact him about purchasing a piece of the team. He estimates it will cost about $300 million to make a deal.
On the first day Lenchiner posted his proposal on-line, he had pledges for $170,000.
Why throw in the #1 NEXT year in additon to the #6 and the #27 this year? Three #1 picks to move up three spots. Well, it was Detroit's #1 pick originally, so it's essentially a #3 for a #6 and two #27s.
