Underrated PPV by the way. As for an episode of Walking Dead, we are dealing with Wrestlemania level here. Like the good ones use to be. We start with I heart Daryl. Last time, we saw Daryl, he was kinda of a pussy with the couple. This time when confronted by a group of assholes, he goes nuts. Negan's goons become literal roadkill thanks to Daryl's new BFF, the MF Rocket Launcher. While Daryl, Abe and Sasha are now safe, the rest not so much.
Rick's walking amongst the Dead plan sorta works. They are able to get Father Gabe and Judith to safety. After that, Sam who to his credit was a trooper, remembers Carol's monster speech. He freaks which leads to his Mom dying, his brother die trying to kill Rick and Carl because Michonne stabs his ass dead and Carl gets his eye blown off. Almost Panel by Panel from the comic. Rick and Michonne get Carl to the infirmary.
Now, Dr. BBW and Creepy Wolf are still out there. After some talk of choices, Creepy Wolf needs up saving Dr. BBW only to eat a Carol bullet. Dr. BBW is able to make it back to the infirmary to help Carl. At this point, Rick goes full Dad Rampage. He alone fights the Mega heard with an axe. Just an axe. The other sees this act of heroism/death wish and rally to the cause. Morgan kills now turned Creep Wolf. Glenn and his sidekick save Maggie sort of. Abe and Sahsa really do the saving when they show up with machine guns to save Glenn. Daryl, fucking love Dary btw, decides to use the gas in the tanker to light the river on fire. The Walkers head that way and the heroes wipe the rest out in a bizarre 80s cutting montage. Carl comes back to life after Rick tells him he wants to show him the world now that he knows the people of Alexandria, ain't a bunch of pussies.
Daryl replaces the Crossbow with The Mother Fucking Rocket Laucher by taking the heavy weapons skill. The people of Alexandria level up enough to fight zombies. Can they fight Negan, who knows and honestly that scene needs to happen now after Daryl handed his boys their lunch. Carl will get a Governor make over. Rick has found hope. We don't have to deal with Creepy Wolf dude along with the family no one really liked.
This is right up there for me with Carol going ape shit on Terminus. Granted, all of these are action heavy episodes and may not have the moral questioning that was done on the farm in season two or Hershel in the jail, but it works. This show works when there is danger and action. As someone said on twitter coughJohnnyOcough we are past the point of what would we do ,ie the viewer, in zombieland and we are now on to Holy Shit, look what my favorite character did to survive and I am so glad he or she did it.
It was a very emotional episode. I almost understand Sam freaking out. He suddenly saw a kid walker, bringing back Carol's words. Which makes you wonder, if she hadn't freaked him out, could he have made it.
I jumped up when we saw Carl. I did NOT expect them to go there. Wow...and really good to see Rick having faith in the people of Alexandria in the end. I forgot that this is (sort of) the point in the books where Rick goes from "everyone in my way will die" to "maybe there IS a future life possible"
Great visualisation of the group hacking walkers. Also, I really liked the scenes with Denise (the doc) with the Wolf. How he was shocked he was still humane enough to turn around. Of course it didn't do him much good.
Carol seemed like a bitch this episode. Her words to Sam come back to haunt (and kill) him. She shoots the Wolf for sort of no reason- I mean, I get it but she didn't need to. I wonder if she's gonna butt heads with positive-Rick.
Oh and yeah Daryl was very bad-ass. Got a feeling we won't be seeing him next season. (No clue if Reedus is signed on for another year or not, don't wanna know actually, just basing it on the story we see unfold)
I may have drifted from the show to the point that I'm not emotionally attached to anyone anymore. Or the episode was directed for technical focus (the number of zombies and the pond fire) instead of emotional focus. I didn't feel any of it.
The death of Jessie's family felt like a Poochie extraction. They all bought it within two minutes, and in such a vague dreamlike manner that I thought it was a character's nightmare. No one saw the zombies gathering on Sam despite everyone watching for them which seems convenient and odd.
We don't see Glen and Maggie's reunion or see anyone congratulate Gabriel or Eugene, who FINALLY got off their asses to help out. Carol and Morgan's talk seemed flat despite the fight they so recently had.
I liked Rick's monologue to Carl. I liked Denise's subplot; she's my favorite Alexandrian. I liked, well, not much else, and I'm disappointed about that. This was a turning point, and it didn't feel like it.
If not for the Negan's imminent arrival, I might be done with the series.

I thought the same thing. I even said it to my wife while it was happening that it wasn't real, just a dream. Oops, I was wrong. See ya, Sam!
Cops surround home only to find family watching ‘The Walking Dead’
A Montana family gave their neighbors quite a scare while enjoying a favorite TV show Sunday evening.
A 911 call came in at 7:28 p.m. from a Great Falls neighbor who heard “screaming from a house about someone having a gun,” according to Great Falls Police Department notes from the call. A second caller helped the seven responding officers locate the house.
Great Falls Police Department Sgt. Brian McGraw said the officers surrounded the residence, responding to a disturbance possibly involving a gun.
“We had a whole bunch of guys on that one,” he said.
The call notes say the officers heard “loud talking” from inside the home and observed “flashing lights.”
According to the notes, the officers saw two adults and several children, ages unknown, watching “a show about firearms” with two windows close to the TV opened. Everyone appeared to be OK.
McGraw said he later found out the show was the midseason premiere of AMC’s The Walking Dead, an hour-long drama chronicling life during the zombie apocalypse.
Based on the outcome, no report is required for the call. The call notes do not include what the family had to say about the police response. ----------------------------------------------
I'm lucky the neighbors don't call in the wife and I when we are watching this in the ManCave. We like to feel our television experience.
