This was a story that is now on the front section of the Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel, and at least looks like it was leaked to one of the Heat's main beat writers that for whatever reason, personal or otherwise, Van Gundy is being pushed aside for Riley [EDIT: now addendumed by the Sentinel as "resigned"], meaning what everyone suspected and what Riley kept denying would happen? It's about to happen.
Either a) there's something we don't know b) this is supposed to be the big thing to make a charge or c) this is the day the season went over the waterfall.

I'm surprised at the timing of this move. With Miami playing 4 games in 5 nights on the road this week, you would think Riley would wait for them to bottom out before riding to the rescue next week in a situation where he could win 4 in a row at home (including X-Mas on national TV) before heading to Detroit. I wouldn't be shocked if there was an interim coach for a week while Riley conducts an exhaustive search that concludes with him looking in front of the mirror right before Miami plays Atlanta. Shaq's injury coupled with the time it takes to gel new players worked perfectly for Riley.

Apparantly that "meeting" already took place, since ESPN News is now running a crawl saying Riley is to be named interim (read: just for this season) head coach.

Coaching carousels make for chaotic seasons. And let's not mention the fact that Riley wasn't exactly setting the world on fire during the last few years he was head coach. Combined with the overflow of egos on the roster (sans the humble Wade) and Shaq's ballooning weight and this is turning into a nightmare for Miami. This season just keeps getting easier for the Pistons, doesn't it?

Nightmare would be 7-15 or somesuch. Right now it's not so much digging themselves out of a hole so much as they need to put a little more distance between themselves and the ground.
Of the incomees, Jason Williams started off unsure of his spot in the offense and has gotten better as he's acclimated himself. It's not Antoine Walker's ego I'm concerned about, it's his shot selection. Posey I'm still not sure of since I don't think he's completely found his spot in Miami's scheme yet.
But considering they've yet to have their intended starting lineup actually start a game all season (including option 1a missing for most of it), 11-10 isn't all that disasterous, especially given their division standing and the fact that there's still 60 games left for them to get their you-know-what together. Which isn't to say there haven't been problems with turnovers, defensive lapses and scoring droughts, all 3 of which are correctable and those are the things that need to be improved before the playoffs start.
They gambled the first month of the season to make sure that Shaq's ankle would be as rested as possible and came out breaking even on the proposition. I'm not saying everything's going to be perfect now and that there isn't work that needs to be done, but there's still a long way to go until the playoffs. Plus they probably need to make one more move (backup shooting guard most likely) before it gets too late in the season.

Seeing the picture, I say Green went a bit overboard with the prank. But then I hate the idea of veterans hazing/pranking their rookie teammates, so I can understand his reasoning in doing it.
