Presumably Wrong Freeway lol. Just messing, I had no idea how they were working the semis either but it seems like they are going to criss-cross the European and N.American division in the semis.
The round robin part really proved to be no help, so far 2 out of the three lower seeds team won. And Finland won by the skin of their teeth by getting a late goal in the third.
smark/net attack wienerville advisory is raised to ORANGE alert - High (Benoit lost the title to some punk kid named Orton, lets look at the positive at least it's a heel not named HHH who has the title, which allows two fresh faces battling for the World title.. whaat? excuse me? what happened on Raw! well scratch that... Over to Smackdown we wave at Justin Bradshaws title reign, I think I'm getting sea sick)- 8/22
Bizarrely, they switched to Highest Euro Seed vs. Lowest NA Seed and visa versa. So, we get Finland facing the United States and the CANADA/Slovakia winner facing the Czech Republic.

I was all ready to call this thing a WORK! But Finland went into business for themselves. Not to brag (okay maybe a little) but I called Finland to do well when this thing started, all you need is a outstanding goalie and Kipper seems to be 4 REAL (but that on the side of his tights! err goalie pads)
On the other side of the coin, OH NOOOOOOOOOOO Brodeur looks like he's not going to play tonight. We are screwed, I Know, I know Positive Injected will say Luongo is a good goalie, all I'll say is this guy plays for Florida, he hasn't had a meaningful game since he was still in puberty... Why the hell didn't they take Brodeur out in the 3rd period with a 5-0 lead on freakin Slovakia, and it's not day after coaching on my part at the third I said to self "Self, why aren't they taking Brodeur out just in case"

So now it's Finland vs. Canada on Tuesday night for the World Cup championship. Canada got by the Czech Republic with a LOT of luck, as the Canadian defense abandoned Luongo to face 37 shots.
The final won't be a coronation by a long shot. Make sure you catch it, because you won't be seeing hockey for a long time afterward.
Man, I went from elation to utter depression in six seconds after Draper scored, and then the Canadian team got caught with their pants down. I thought that was it, but Canada managed to barely pull through on Lecavalier's "Oh-God-I-Can't-Believe-He-Missed-No-Wait-He-Still-Has-It!-YES-OH-YES-CANADA-WINS!" goal.
Funniest part of the game: seeing Wayne Gretzky bash Kevin Lowe's shoulder after every goal and celebrate in his lovably gawky way. God love ya, Wayne; you're a nerd, but you're the coolest nerd in Canada.
If this World Cup has shown anything, it is that Tampa Bay were no flukes last year. Lecavalier, Richards and St. Louis have all been absolutely dynamite for Team Canada.
I have to admit I didn't think the Tampa kids were for real but I have to agree with Big Bad they are for real... Tampa Bay is going to be a good team for a very long time.
I thought the defense was going to be the weak link, and to be honest no one really stood out... But they did there job and allowed the very talented offense to do their thing.
Great team effort, even though the game was very close. I never felt too nervous in this game (unlike the Czech game)... It just felt Canada could have turned it up any time they wanted tonight even thought Kipper looked really solid in the first period.
It's so much fun watching Gretzky looking really excited... I heard they put the loonies under the bench.
The only bad stuff I'll say is some of the CBC broadcast. Bob Cole is getting so bad when he didn't know the overtime rules going into the Czech game and he even seems bitter and angry when he's corrected by Neil... Also what about Scott Oak telling Lemieux right in the middle of this happy moment "Is this your last game.. You're not getting any YOUNGER", Geez what an ass.
Good job by the Canadian team and management.
