I'll cut out the middlesite. According to today's Observer, Backlash will end up with, yes, HHH being added to Michaels/Benoit as a ladder match. Unless sanity prevails, Guerrero/Bradshaw, possibly with Heyman as manager, is pencilled in for Judgment Day. Um ... man.
"Nothing will ever be as bad and sad and worthless as Lesnar/Holly @ this years Rumble!"
As bad as that was, Lesnar was a more established top star than Eddie is, Holly is a much better worker than Bradshaw, and they actually had an angle that would be compelling if it was anybody but Holly.
While I'll admit Guerrero/Bradshaw probably won't be much to look at, let's not be too quick to discount Eddie's carrying ability. It might be better than you expect. Besides, with Bradshaw's new gimmick it should be a pretty fun ride getting to the PPV.

I really don't see the point of just having a Wrestlemania rematch at the ppv. But for some reason, I don't see Benoit winning if it is a three-way rematch. He's already proven he can beat HHH, now he needs to prove he can beat Michaels after HBK got the duke over Benoit on RAW. Also, if it is a ladder match, is it a good idea for HBK to participate in such a match with the shape of his back and a torn ACL? Not to mention Benoit's surgically repaired neck, and HHH's torn quads... .

Hopefully, much like two years ago when he got a single's push, fate intervenes and knocks Bradshaw out of commission before he can do serious damage to Eddie's standing. And, it might be worse than Holly/Lesnar, as at least that match was buried under Michaels/Trip and the Royal Rumble match in a joint PPV. If this match is headlining a stand-alone PPV, it has the realistic potential to have an abysmal buy-rate and sink Eddie in the process.
Why is TVLand stealing my ideas from DEAN's Workrate Report's? They had to be stealing, as I thought I had the only demented mind that could put Bea Arthur and Abe Vigoda in a sex scene.

HHH and HBK have both already had a ladder match (last fall of 3 stages of hell) at Armageddon since they got back from injury. A match that also incorporated about 12 tables, 10 chairs, 5 flaming bats, 2 ring bells and a partridge in a pear tree. So they should be fine. And Benoit still seems determined to continue as a human suplex machine while carrying on with his little divey headbutt thing so he also should be all right.
Sticking with the same 3 guys at successive ppv's does however suck somewhat, but if the match is as good as that at WM I'll still be a happy camper.
A 3 way ladder match should blow the roof of Backlash. Much better than last year when we got Rock vs Goldberg. Bradshaw vs Geurrero is better than WWE putting together a rushed program with Eddie vs Booker or Eddie vs RVD or Eddie vs Show. If combined with a good undercard it gives WWE time to build for the future which coming off the success of WMXX is the key.

They have the exact same amount of time to do Eddie/anyone else as they do Eddie/Bradshaw.

I think the argument is that none of the obvious opponents for Eddie are going to help the ME draw massively given under 2 months build, therefor its better to plug in a stop gap challenger like Bradshaw than someone like Booker or RVD who arguably would have the potential to draw in a long term feud with Eddie.
Or something. I really should have found room for a full stop in there......
The general consensus is that the Bradshaw push is thus far working and one of he most talked about topics of the IWC. With the Judgement Day still off on the horizon, I expect WWE to go all out and make this a compelling storyline. Instead of crapping all over the angle, I think we just need to see it play out, and when the time of the PPV actually arrives, then we can "judge" whether or not it was a success.

So is that the general consensus amongst the voices in your head? I ask this because this "push" has lasted all of one show and has consisted of an in-ring promo and a run-in. I don't know what "IWC" you're talking about but I'm pretty sure it's not the one I'M reading from.
Im still going with Gurrero vs. Angle in some sort of gimmick match at Judgment Day. Angle has just been cleared to wrestle again and I suspect the Bradshaw/Gurrero feud to end on a episode of Smackdown.

I think that some folks are not making a distinction between "title match" and "main event". If they actually make Eddie v Layfield the main at the May PPV, I don't think that there's much dispute that that would be one of the biggest head-scratchers ever. And this coming from somebody who's really digging Layfield's new gimmick, and I think the match might be better than folks are expecting. And I don't think it will hurt to have a new heel with some real heat fed to Eddie. It's not as though Eddie's going to lose after all. But none of that means that this feud rates PPV main event status.
I wouldn't be too surprised if they went ahead with having the title match at the PPV, but put something else in the main, such as Angle v Somebody, winner gets GM job.
I prefer TiOaBmF's scenario of blowing off Guerrero/Layfield on SD! and going back to some kind of rematch with Angle at the PPV, though. Maybe something like the Rick's idea of Angle using his GM position to wear Eddie down with title defenses, handicap matches, and such until stepping down or being forced out, then booking his rematch with Eddie at the PPV as his last act as GM.
To go back to the Raw side, I think the logic of going with a straight three-man rematch on the PPV is that adding the ladders makes it fresh and it saves the one-on-one HBK/Benoit rematch for the June PPV, once HHH is out shooting movies and whatever. Which makes some sense, I guess. The only real negative is that Edmonton seems the perfect place for the one-on-one match.

Man, haven't posted here in a long time. It's really too bad that Triple H got traded back. I was actually looking forward to TripleH/Cena at Judgment Day. I'm glad that Smackdown got BookerT, and I too think we'll see Eddy/Booker at JD. I'm guessing this week we'll see Bradshaw/Eddy with a Booker run in. Then the lights go out and BONG! You know who comes out. So for JD they'll have a "co-main event" with Bradshaw/Taker and Eddy/Booker.
As for Backlash, again, it sucks that H got traded back. Oh well, he'll be gone after Backlash for a while anyway. I'd much rather have a Benoit/HBK match like everyone else seems to want. Then again, there's another Raw PPV before SS, so I guess that's where they'll have Benoit/HBK. Then what for Benoit, though? Randy would be the only other top heel on that show, unless Kane decides to stop chasing Taker, which I doubt.
Yeah, I would have it that week after week Angle books Gurrero to defend his title but Gurrero keeps winning. Angle can say that Gurrero doesnt fit the image of what he wants his new Smackdown champ to be but Bradshaw does. Bradshaw and Gurrero feud and have a big main event title match on Smackdown. Gurrero wins and Angle is furious. Angle then decides the only person good enough to beat Gurrero is himself. Angle books himself and Gurrero in a 3 Stages of Hell match at Judgment Day. Vince then appears and tells Angle that he cant wrestle in a title match and be GM at the same time. If he wants to go through with the title match he has to re-sign. This leads to Angle facing a big decision and he finally decides to resign.
So at Judgment Day we have...
3 Stages of Hell for WWE Title: Angle vs. Gurrero
Undertaker vs. Big Show
U.S. Title: Cena vs. Dupree
RVD vs. Booker T
Tag Titles: Dudleyz vs. Rikishi/S2H
Mysterio vs. Bradshaw (Hell, why not...)

I wouldnt mind one bit if the FED did a WCW style cruiserweight tourney to give out the belt. BUt who am I kidding, for ever Kidman and Funaki out there, Vince have a Crash Holly to kill my interest with.
