I almost feel sorrier for the people who had KSU giving 7 than I do for the K-State fans. Of course, jumping on Ohio State and getting 7 really feels good right now (of course, with my luck it will be like Holtz suspending his 4 best players before the Orange Bowl at Arkansas in '78 and then winning a blowout).
If only Paul Jones had brought in General Skandar Akbar as a technical military advisor, Paul Jones' Army could have thwarted the McMahon infidels and prevented the collapse of wrestling civilization.
According to ESPN, he is cleared to play by the university, who has reviewed the charges and feels there was no criminal wrongdoing. So now it will be up to Bill Snyder to determine if breaking curfew will be cause enough for benching, be it limited or for the whole game.

(edited by whatever on 2.1.04 1637) I drove the Hummer. Sorry 'bout that.
Didn't really matter? That was their QB's worst game of the season. 30 incompletions. Even Ohio State's players said that his head clearly wasn't in it.
And despite it all, they only lost by seven points.
So would the outcome have been different (meaning positively for KSU) if Robeson had been benched for all or part of the game? It looked like the KSU offense had gotten itself on track by the middle of the second quarter, and Robeson was dead-on for most of that last drive. If they had those seconds that rolled off while the chains were being moved, KSU could have taken a little more time and kept moving down with those 15 yard strikes, especially with how loose the Ohio State defense played on that drive.
At least Ohio State never disappoints in providing an interesting football game. When's the last time they won a game by more than a TD?

Me and a million other people predicted the outcome of the game once the story about Ell came out, but I didn't see that particular development coming.
The outcome wouldn't have been any better for Kansas State if Ell had been benched. The two replacement quarterbacks are awful, but more importantly the loss was a team effort. What happened was a massive distraction for everybody, not just Roberson. The defense, which allowed like 60 points in the last 6-7 games, couldn't hold it together. The long snapper was putting it at the punter's feet, then over his head. Even the center had some bad snaps. Nobody looked any good.
Would the outcome have been better if the whole off-field situation hadn't happened? Sure. As was pointed out, they only lost by a touchdown despite the shitty game they played. But what happened, even if he didn't do anything wrong, was Roberson's fault. He made his own choices. So it's not like they have anyone to blame but themselves.
Although whether the police should have released Ell's name and turned it into a big story is up for debate, considering that charges haven't (and likely won't) be brought against him. The police have found no evidence that support the girl's story, and they have a statement from her best friend that paints the girl as an Ell Roberson stalker. Meanwhile, you got John Saunders, during a highly rated game on national TV, saying that Ell was arrested and dragged off the practice field without ever offering a retraction or apology.
