I actually just got back from watching this at a movie theater in New Jersey (done through Fathom Events). The crowd was enthusiastic, but pretty small and that made me sad because I would go the theater route again.
Winners- GSP via decision over Hardy (Hardy escaped some nasty submission attempts but was still outclassed) Carwin over Mir via KO (WOOOOOO) Fitch over Ben Saunders via decision (normal boring ass Fitch "grind" fight) Pelligrino over Camoes via RNC (good fight) Jim Miller over Mark Bocek via decision (another good fight, could have gone either way)
Overall, I felt I got my 20 dollars worth, since I would have paid more than that if I had bought it from home or even with one friend splitting the cost.
What did YOU think, shushie?
"Put on your helmets, we'll be reaching speeds of 3!" "It was nice of you to give that dead woman another chance." "All right, look alive everybody...oh sorry Susan."- MST3K: Space Mutiny Click Here (myspace.com)
I spent $20 to watch this at a friend-of-a-friend's house. I got burgers and chips out of the deal too, so that was swell. The fights were entertaining. I rarely know who anyone is apart from the biggest names and the most hilarious nicknames, but I had no real complaints. Whenever the fights got slow, one guy there would start yelling about how he was going to Bones Jones somebody with 12-6 elbows, so I was never bored.
Hardy didn't belong in there with GSP, but dude is tough as nails. I was very impressed and I hope his arms still work.
Hardy was entirely outclassed, but kudos to him for hanging in there and not tapping. GSP's still awesome, obviously.
I've no idea what to make of Mir. He's got talent, but also some pretty big holes in his game. I'd much rather see Lesnar v Carwin than Lesnar v Mir II though, so yay for that.
The rest was generally thoroughly entertaining. even the Fitch fight wasn't THAT bad, though it certainly wasn't good. Had I had to spend money on it, I'd have felt it money well spent.
Quality thread right here! But I'd still take this over "If you could ask a wrestler anything." The Ultimate Fighter finale is live on Spike (and presumably Sportsnet in Canada) this Saturday, with Tony Ferguson (complete asshole) vs.
