All the heels win including Charlotte except for Ambrose. Yes, Ambrose beat Owens in the second biggest lock of the night going into this thing. The League of Nations cost Reigns the title, but that is when the PPV gets interesting. Reigns loses his mind and murders HHH. Yes, someone finally destroys HHH that is not a part timer. Its looks like the Authority is over, a year and half too late.
You are paying $9.99, so these are the PPVS you are going to get. A PPV where they at least had Sasha/Becky as the pre-match. Yet, felt the need for the heels to almost dominate the faces at times. Bayley was tweeting the UK fans serenading her. So, the most over wrester is not only not on the PPV, but not even in the fucking country. We get New Day being New Day and The Wyatts getting protected after their lose to the Brothers of Destruction. It would have been cool to see Bubba actually get the table on fire, but it did not happen. A lot of things should have happened, but that is the WWE in the 2010s.
I saw the main event and thought it was fantastic. Sheamus and Reigns killed each other out there. It's too bad they were set up so horribly going in and the crowd also blew, but great job by those two. The meltdown afterwards was also well done and its about Roman lost his shit.
The opener looked like a good time as well, so I'll go back and catch that.
It took WWE this long to realize that "beating the crap out of HHH every time he sees him" would finally be the thing that gets Roman over?
George Michael weighed his options. Maeby had chastised him for not taking risks, and what would be a bigger risk than perpetuating a lie about software just to ignite the passions of a woman? Of course it would be a lie, and since Maeby wouldn't know it was a lie, he wouldn't appear to be taking a risk. Perhaps the bigger risk was to tell his father he was lying, that he came up with it because he wanted his father to leave so he could enjoy what remained of his senior year. After all, he wondered, wouldn't that be the course of action taken by an overtly sexual man, a man who owns a pair of matador pants? He had not responded now for 41 seconds according to his unfailing internal clock, and it was time to come clean.
The opening triple threat was so good. It set an impossible bar for the rest of the show. It did everything an opening match should do by making me say, in a good way, "man, if the opener is this great I wonder what can possibly top it later?" Unfortunately nothing else reached that lofty goal. Reigns snapping was awesome. Alvarez went on a rant about it that sums up my feelings. The bullet points are:
- Reigns should've done this back in January - Reigns needs to do this more and talk/smirk/Cena less - Something interesting that happened will most likely be neutered by a 20 minute Stephanie promo, leading to firing/suspension/handicap match(es)/same old shit
Back to that triple threat. In a match full of visually impressive spots, I am most impressed by Woods hitting Lucha Booty I with the trombone from ~8 feet away while the Luch Booty was climbing. The degree of difficulty there was surprisingly high.
It's a shame the Sasha-Becky match got stuck on the preshow, because it was a good match. It's good to see Team B.A.D. get to show more personality, especially Tamina's perfectly off key singing.
The tag ladder match was great as usual and the right team won.
And... that's as far as I made it, though I did catch the Roman finale which worked perfectly. This is the Roman we need.
Barrett was hopefully stopping the Usos and Ambrose from evening the odds, since they re-emphazied they were all together with Dean and Roman talking earlier in the show.
In no way did it look like the Authority was done. It looked like the Authority is going to fire Roman tonight, and he's still either winning the Rumble and facing Sheamus at WM, or he's having a match with HHH instead.
I though the Team BAD promo was, uh, Bad - as if they took a rejected New Day script and switched some words around. But I also generally dismiss complaints about something being stuck on a preshow now, because it's all the same stream, they probably got more time than they would've got on the actual PPV and maybe a better reaction too because they were first out.
The show was much better than the build leading up to it. You should go watch the opener and the main event + post match if you don't have time to watch the rest of this show.
I stayed up much too late to watch the whole PPV (on the second play after the Stone Cold podcast) after having assured everyone in the room I planned to bug out early. Not regretting a thing - that was a thoroughly entertaining finale. Loved HHH's Vince-style floppy-fish selling, even though the mic caught him during the chair shots urging Roman, 'C'mon, again!'
My boys were gleeful that they spotted the gimmicked aluminum-painted wood, but the ladder-breakers were great spots anyway. I was sure someone was going to die or be paralyzed during the tag match, which is pretty much the test of a well made ladder match.
New Day are brilliant at what they do. My boys both actually asked for unicorn shirts for Christmas.
I guess WWE think they just have to exploit the 'Ric Flair's daughter' thing while they can, but please let Charlotte move past that soon. I love the NXT women's division style - we never miss NXT these days, while I can only rarely take more than an hour of Raw.
I think Ric Flair is beloved enough that the only way Charlotte will be able to go all the way heel is if she says she doesn't need the old man anymore and takes him out herself.
I was annoyed at the commentary during the Reigns destruction. Nobody believes Roman Reigns is going to be fired, JBL... we've seen this story before. Hell, we've seen HHH taking out authority figures. Though really, ending the show with cops taking him out in cuffs would have been more badass.
Low bar to clear, but that was easily the best RAW PPV of 2015. I don't even know what's contending for the #2 spot on that list. Anyhoo, I agree with everything that's been said about that triple-threat opener, but I also really loved the Ambrose/Owens match, and Ambrose winning clean with a surprise rollup is something that almost never happens anymore. I want these guys to keep feuding all the way through Wrestlemania.
Yeah, Owens-Ambrose was pretty good despite the fucking awful commentary. When was Owens, or any other IC champion in the history of everything, on talk shows, cooking shows, and soap operas as IC champ? Why would Ambrose suddenly start doing those things? And why is Lawler in love with how handsome (he thinks) Ambrose is? And why does Lawler have a huge boner to go to the after party? Imagine the crazy shenanigans! Some guys will have beers! Some won't! Maybe some jokes will be told! The lunacy! When Lawler is the most insufferable of the group that includes JBL and Cole, there's a problem. Thanks for the years of service but he should've retired years ago.
Yes, Owens/Ambrose was also a fine match - there were no time-wasters on the card. I was assuming they took the IC belt off Owens so he could win the Rumble.
I enjoy that guy's work in every respect. He could carry off a WM main event with style, so I'm looking forward to the prospect.
The opener was insane and one of those matches where everyone looks good (and in pain) If they want to bring back the Dudleyz/E+C/Hardyz era, these guys could do it. Ryback-Rusev entertained me more than I thought it would, same for the tables match. It was more of a nice hardcore/extreme match than the regular WWE tables stuff. Owens-Ambrose was good, did't expect Dean to win. Charlotte is slowly turning heel. Nice match. Oh Sasha-Becky was better. The reversals there were pretty cool. Main event was ok. One of those things where I could see the guys were working hard but it just didn't feel..real? Up until the last few spots though. The ladder bump was solid, the drama with the LoN was to be expected but played out well. The destruction of HHH. Meh..we'll see how much is helps Roman. I assume he's gonna get suspended/fired. Buys a ticket, gets in HHH's face and gets a match. And only if he beats H he can face Sheamus ever again.

after tasering him, Because there is no other way to stop him!

I still don't think that Roman Reigns is going to be the breakout star that Vince wants him to be, but he was at the very least used correctly last night and I think he can be a top star. Not THE top star, but certainly a top one as long as they keep him literally no-nonsense like he was last night.
He does need to stop failing to win the WWE Title, though. That just never helps anyone.

Consistently referring to him as "WWE's Bridesmaid" isn't doing him any favors either.

I'm not bothering to fire up the TV and watch RAW to see if this prediction comes true. Sadly, no need.

You should have. They did this one right, if you ask me.

Yes, any industry which had so many people dying young would be shut down, which is why I still remember the great Rock and Roll Shutdown of 199....what? They didn't shut that down despite the fact that tons of young rockers seem to die prematurely?
