Let's not get too excited here. Tim Brown might be a nice cheap upgrade for a team like the Ravens that don't have much for a passing game, but it's not like we're talking about the Tim Brown of the late 90s here. We've got a guy who last year caught less than 600 yards and only two touchdowns. The guy's nearly 40, and not at all what he once was. I don't see him being the last piece to anybody's championship puzzle at this stage.

Amen to that. Now if the Ravens could get Brown, two other receivers, and Kyle Boller could improve, we'd be well on our way!
I know you guys are the biggest Ravens' fanboys around, but has it occurred to anyone that the RAIDERS just released a guy because he was TOO OLD? He must be practically decomposing in the huddle for that.

Have you SEEN our receiving corps?
Or even worse, the guys throwing the ball to the receiving corp.

JayJay, they released him for cap reasons. He wouldn't renegotiate and because he isn't what he once was, they couldn't afford the salary cap hit.
It's really sad that guys like Brown and Eddie George can't finish their careers where they started.

According to the AP article he was released because he didn't want to accept a decreased role in the offense, and no mention of any salary cap ramifications was made, so I'm sticking with my statement. Too old, not too expensive.
Brown was the last LOS ANGELES Raider. (for now) I didn't know that.

For what its worth, ESPN's saying that the Bucs and the Broncos are looking at him.

I'd say its a little of A, a little of B. Giving your receiving corps a more youthful look by throwing more balls in the direction of Jerry Rice would seem silly no?
It was late and I must've been kind of bitchy when I made that last post. My bad.
According to the AP article on SI.com (I was reading the version on ESPN.com before) it DOES mention "salary cap constraints and the reality of reduced playing time", so I stand corrected.

Some things are just too odd to imagine. Junior Seau in a Miami uniform was one. (Actually, Kenyon Martin in a powder blue Nuggets uni is another one.) The thought of Joe Montana in KC red and yellow was tough to wrap the brain around. Emmitt Smith in Cardinals colors.
Tim Brown in a Tampa Bay Buccaneers uniform trumps them all.
(On the other hand, some things seem SO right, like Jerry Rice in silver and black.)

add Warren Sapp in a Raiders uni, Eddie George in a Cowboys uni & Brunell in 'Skins colors.
You're a jive soul bro, a jive soul bro And you're always lyin' to you friends You're a jive soul bro, a jive soul bro And you'll never get nothin' in the end

Yeah, but those guys you can PICTURE in your mind that they look right, can't you? I mean, Sapp in silver and black ws destined to happen. Eddie George, a Titans uni never looked better on anyone else, but it's not like he's, say, a Packer. Wouldn't he look NOT RIGHT in green and gold?
As for Mark Brunell, if you can wear teal and black you can make anything look like it belongs.
Now that A-Rod's been in a Yankee uniform for four months, try to picture him in a Red Sox uni. Isn't that just...ODD?
EDIT: Won't Jeff Garcia look weird in a Browns' uniform? He might look like he just stepped out of the chemo ward in street clothes, but he sure looked right in a Niners uniform.

Where is the hell of a good team, a year or two away, where are the Raiders now, Ahead of KC. You know the preseason pick in the AFC West, Superbowl contender Chiefs.
