Hello.
There are 365 days in a year, and if you spent one day looking at each of the coming week's new DVD, Blu-ray, HD DVD and UMD releases in this list, you and I wouldn't be back for EXACTLY ONE YEAR. Fortunately for you, it didn't take me a year to put together this list of releases and reviews! Unfortunately for ME, it starts all over again in under a week, so without any delay let's move right to the
PICK OF THE WEEK: Whose Line Is It Anyway? - Seasons 1 & 2 (The W at Amazon) (UK, 1988-90) Later shown in the early days of Comedy Central, 30 episodes on 4 discs with lots of Clive Anderson, Stephen Fry, Mike McShane, Josie Lawrence, Tony Slattery, Peter Cook, Griff Rhys-Jones, the guy YOU really liked that I didn't include because I'm a bastard, and dozens more - I used to get confused because the host of "Survivor" looked nothing like Greg Proops

MOVIES!
(Click on the IMDb icons to be taken to a new window with the movie/show in question's page at the Internet Movie Database!)
After Dark Horror Fest Not quite all of the "8 Films to Die For" (did they have to take SNOOP DOGG's film out?) this seems ... overpriced to me - includes these individual titles: Dark Ride (2006) Jamie-Lynn DiScala is in it - I tell you this because you're probably one of those people who feels she is "so fucking hot" Reincarnation (Rinne - Japan, 2005) The Hamiltons (2006) Wicked Little Things (2006) Unrest (2006) The Gravedancers (2006) Penny Dreadful (2006)
If you like ANY of those, you might be a good customer for: Cinema of Death Cult Epics brings "5 underground films" but fails to name any of them on the Amazon page - but if you go to their page (cultepics.com) (which also includes some fine smut), you'll find that this is a limited edition of 2500, and the five films are shorts: Adoration (Belgium/France, 1996) , Dislandia (2005), Pig (1999), Hollywood Babylon (2000) and Le Pome (France, 2005) - adds up to about an hour and a half
Color Me Kubrick (2007) Yes, the same one that opened Friday - John Malkovich
CRITERION: Series 1: Early Bergman (Torment / Crisis / Port of Call / Thirst / To Joy) The very first release on the Eclipse imprint - bare bones releases meant to expose you to the films without having to endure the lengthy Criterionization process - five early films from beloved Swede - here are some Swedish titles: Hets (Sweden, 1944) , Kris (Sweden, 1946) , Hamnstad (Sweden, 1948) , Trst (Sweden, 1949) and Till Gldje (Sweden, 1950) - more on Eclipse from Criterion's insanely large JPEG

IMAX: Deep Sea Narrated by Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet!
(PRACTICALLY) DIRECT TO DVD RELEASE OF THE WEEK: Funny Money (2006) Chevy Chase, Penelope Ann Miller - wow, out in four theatres and pulled a WHOPPING $2,844 - which makes it an automatic surefire MUST SEE

JUNGLE SPIRIT (Germany, 2007) Only Germans could tell the story of Malaysian hostages taken by the Japanese in WWII - I think I've got that right - www.7-junglespirit.com
NOT UFC: Ultimate Versus (USA/Japan, 2000) "The battle to be waged: Good versus Evil in the pursuit of a beautiful woman who holds the power to grant eternal life. But what Prisoner KSC2-303 cannot remember is whether he is the personification of good or the very essence of darkness."

MINISERIESESES: Origins of the Mafia ("Alle Origini Della Mafia - miniseries, France/Italy, 1976) 5 part miniseries covers 400 years of history of the family Chronicles of Narnia - Silver Chair (BBC, 1990) Well...it's a Chronicle of Narnia and it's got Tom Baker in it, how bad can it be? "LEGENDARY" MEANS "ON THE VERGE OF PUBLIC DOMAIN:" Comic Legends - Groucho Marx & Redd Foxx Separate stand-up performances from...probably just long ago enough to be public domain Dick Van Dyke - In Rare Form Compilation of his 1958-9 appearances on "The Pat Boone Chevy Showroom"
WE'LL KEEP COLORIZING THEM UNTIL SOMEBODY DECIDES IT'S A GOOD IDEA: Little Rascals in COLOR! Box Set Before you complain, they include black&white versions for you, too. Includes: Little Rascals: Best of Our Gang Includes "uncut" (racist, say some) "Kid from Borneo" (1933) , "Hide & Shriek" (1938) and three more shorts Little Rascals: Best of Spanky Five more uncut shorts, including "Shrimps for a Day" (1934) and "Choo-Choo!" Swing Parade of 1946 (1946) The Three Stooges are the high point of this musical, so that's probably why this is being marketed as another Stooges DVD - colorized and black&white
DODGY IMPORT OF THE WEEK: Rome Adventure (1962) Troy Donahue, Angie Dickinson, Suzanne Pleshette
STALLONE OF THE WEEK: Lock Up (1989) Back in print!!!!!
FIRST TIME ON DVD (I THINK): School for Scoundrels (School for Scoundrels or How to Win Without Actually Cheating! - UK, 1960) Probably a zillion times better than the 2006 one Old Boyfriends (1979) If this is really it (Anchor Bay is a little light on the details), this may be the MOST ECLECTIC CAST OF THE WEEK - but probably wasn't back in the seventies Heartbreak High (The Kinky Coaches and the Pom Pom Pussycats - USA/Canada, 1981) John Vernon, Norman Fell, Robert Forster - put me in, coach Tempest (1982) Dust Devil: The Final Cut (1992) Director's cut restores about 16 minutes The Pickle (1993) Wow, my college roommate LOVED this movie. FIX YOUR BROKEN HEAD - WITH DVDs: Inner Peace for Busy People Joan Z. Borysenko, Ph.D. The Power of the Mind to Heal Joan Z. Borysenko, Ph.D. (I'm sure the fact that the above are to be released on April Fool's Day is just coincidence)
CUBA: Live Yumuri y Sus Hermanos - I don't know who Yumuri is, but he looks like a SEXY Cuban man Knock Out - Bamboleo Dance Lessons - Bailar Salsa a lo Cubao
"Whose Line" was at its best when Paul Merton was on, though Tony Slattery was a delightful fop whenever he appeared.
"One Foot in the Grave" was the inspiration for the 90s sitcom "Cosby". So it's probably a lot less like "Curb Your Enthusiasm" than they want you to think.
I once took a TV writing course from a staff writer of "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman". I was the only person in the room who had even heard of the show.
Re: "Full House" - I question the wisdom of buying any season set of a show that one can watch in reruns in perpetuity. But that's me.

WRONG! I need this pretty badly. The movie's quite entertaining in the same way as LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT and THRILLER: A CRUEL PICTURE was... yeah, I'm a sick puppy.

My local Best Buy had this on the shelf today...although it was $39.99.

EXCELLENT! ...but I got it like a month ago.
So have you watched it? Is it as glorious as described? (It can't be. OR CAN IT?)
Already waiting for the postman to deliver my Shield, season 5. Should get here by the weekend, which leaves me three days to watch it(again) before the new season starts.

I hope you like it, because I really wanted to buy it today from my work. But 40 dollars for 11 episodes (and that's on sale as it's supposed to be 45 bucks) is probably just too much for me to justify the purchase. Actually I'm still mulling it over, and it does have commentaries on all the episodes, so that might sell me. I only wish this set was perhaps 25 or 30.
I must say that I haven't seen a week where quite this many big (as in it was in the theaters) movies have come out today. Happy Feet, Pursuit of Happiness, Turistas, Van Wilder, Children of Men. Plus continuing DVD sets of Full House, The Shield and Seventh Heaven have made this a big week for movies and a possible big headache for me working in my electronics department.
I could be mistaken, but I do not see Justice League Unlimited: Season 2 (the final JLU season, as they combined two seasons to form season one earlier).
It just came out today. Those who are fans of the work of Bruce Timm or DC comics I *HIGHLY* reccomend it.
EDIT: You see, this is where lurking comes to bite you in the ass. My apoligies, Zed.
(edited by El Nastio on 27.3.07 2255) To celebrate the passing of the Troll Amnesty (and for otherwise no reason at all), I present to you the very best of Trolling here on The W. This Troll Moment of the Week is brought to you by one of the greatest(?) Trolls to come The W;
"TopTenPro" , who brought us the following such pieces of wisdom as: br>TopTenPro: I know this is going to be banished, but there is a point I want to make. Why is there not a woman that wants to be loved as much as I want to love?"
CRZ: "Here now are the Top Ten cruel responses I could whip up to this post:" (followed by a rather funny list).

Looks like Canadians got it a week later than we did - it was in last week's list (The W).
The Dementor thing caught me really offguard and my girlfriend and I registered it at the same time and burst out laughing. That was excellent. Jim/Andy/Pam was good too, but I think there was potential for more there.
