Recently, the WWF has been using real hard rock songs for the theme songs for their pay-per-views. Some good (Cocky), some not (Bodies.) One of the things I like about the WWF is the music they use to promote events like the Smackdown theme is Marylin Manson's "The Beautiful People" and the WWF Desire History video used Kid Rock's "Lonely Road of Faith." But most of all, I like PPV theme songs. So here is my list of the Top 10 Best PPV Theme's Ever:
10: The Original Wrestlemania Theme
9: WWF No Mercy 2001: "Click, Click, Boom" by Salivia
8: WCW Starrcade 1998 Theme
7: WCW Halloween Havoc 1998 Theme
6: WWF Vengenace 2001: "Sinner" by Drowning Pool
5: WWF Royal Rumble 2002: "Cocky" by Kid Rock
4: WWF Rock Bottom Theme
3: WCW Starrcade 1997 Theme
2: WWF Survivor Series 1998: Deadly Game Theme Song
1: WWF Wrestlemania X-Seven: MY WAY BAYBEEE!!!!
I really liked that version of The End is Near they put out for Armageddon last year.
The King: "Are you bilingual?" HHH: "I'm bi- a lot of things, but lingual's not one of them...Ummm, did I mean to say that?" JR: "Probably not, but we're live"
I'd have to go with Summerslam 98's use of ACDC's "Highway to Hell" as my favorite use of a popular song. As for original songs, I liked the old Summerslam tune used for a few years back in the early to mid 90s. It was catchy!
And for non-PPVs, it's gotta be the Saturday Night's Main Event theme song all the way!
"...the people ran, they ran all right, they ran right to the toilet, pulled their pants down, took one big Hulk-a-CRAP every time you opened your mouth!"
Cocky and Feel So Numb have been a rare two good ones in a row. But I *hated* My Way. The original Austin/Rock video clip used it well, but by the time I`d heard part of it over 30 times during WM X-7, I never wanted to hear it again. Unfortunately I did. Again and again. :(
Yeah, I don't like it when the WWF overplays a PPV theme. So, I think the best themes are the ones that aren't played that much. Feel So Numb was one of those themes, as well as The End is Near.
