Looks like www.tsn.ca and various other sources are saying that Jose Theodore (who's been having his share of trouble this year) is being traded to Colorado for David Aebischer. This actually marks the second time the Habs have sent a struggling goalie over to Colorado.
I like Theo a lot. This trade is the best things possible for him. He had so much personal crap going on over the last few years in Montreal there's just too much to put aside and focus on hockey anymore. He wasn't going to get a shot at being #1 in Montreal until at least mid-way through next year since he's done for year anyways.
An absolutly MARVELOUS trade for the Habs. For the Aves, they get a good goalie (albiet an expensive one). Theo needed a change of scenary, at the very least.
I dunno whats he been eating (other than hair growth formula) but since his breakout year he's been madly inconsistent, which of course in Montreal means you're going to be hanging on a stake. His play this year no doubt hastened the departure Claude Julien (although to be fair, others weren't tearing up the league either.....plus Alexi Kovalev was hurt).
In return to shipping off a french-canadian goalie to the Aves (twice we've done this) we get David Aebischer, whose plated pretty good the past couple of years (except for this past December). What I'm curious about is wheither he'll excell in the wonderful happyland known as Montreal During Hockey Season. Of course, with the way Huet has been playing, he won't be getting much playing time. And besides, we drafted that goalie from out west this past year, and he's got some potential.
The REAL winner of this trade? We're going to be saving 3-4 million on the salary cap!
=)
To celebrate the passing of the Troll Amnesty (and for otherwise no reason at all), I present to you the very best of Trolling here on The W. This Troll Moment of the Week is brought to you by;
"los_ortega" , who brought us such pieces as wisdom as: "what do you think?Hogan commerial sucks, and so does CRZ. i didn't know grammer was a big thing here at the "W". fuck this site, i'm out"
I'm rounding up as many of my friends as possible for a Flames Cup victory party. The Flames winning at home would be the best ending to the Cup Finals since '94.
