Is is part of or lending credibility to a Vast Left Wing Conspiracy to take note of the relentless war on "independent", not as biased as usual or just plain honest journalism which seems to be gaining speed and strength in many official initiatives these daze? In country after country - even or perhaps especially some who claim to prize "freedom of expression" and a "free press" the most, journalists who dare to expose corruption or who have the courage to point out that one or more Emperors have little or no clothes, are increasingly persecuted and/or prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and quite often considerably beyond?? I don't wish to seem like a "one trick pony" here, in light of my other recent postings, but i lay a good portion of the blame squarely at the feet of the right-wing extremists currently gleefully yanking on the levers of power in the most powerful and overall influential country in the world.... the ultra-right wing of the party which abolished slavery, started the national parks and national monuments systems and initiated excellent Endangered Species legislation and other progressive and benevolent acts of governance, are now firmly in control and are proceeding to stifle as many dissenting voices as they possibly can, via whatever "results-oriented" (a catchphrase meaning that the end completely justifies the means....) methodology deemed to stand the best chance of working in any particular case. Controls intended to prevent semi-monopolies in the popular media are gutted, people who dare proclaim self-evident, logical Truths (such as fighting "terrorism" with massive military campaigns has almost never worked and is most certainly not working this time around) to the people are branded "un-patriotic" and treasonous, journalists attempting to expose Corruption in High Places are hounded to reveal their sources, war correspondents are forbidden to photograph dead and injured soldiers and strongly encouraged to report only from the viewpoint of the military... i needn't continue this litany of strategies on the journalistic front on what might be called the "War on Truth" being waged in recent years - shall we say since around the year 2000 and most certainly since the last quarter of 2001? To return to my runaway train of thought here, the fact that the Imperial Republic of the USA is actively engaged in journalistic suppression and subversion has not been lost upon other far-right regimes all around the world: they are emboldened by this and various other fascist displays/applications of the Might Make Right principle, and of course gladly and even more ruthlessly follow suit. I rest my case here, and can promise that any dissenters will NOT be persecuted, prosecuted or pummeled (by myself at least.....).

Paragraphs won't help us here. I'd take any mix of:

- coherent, rational thought
- specific examples
- not using standard, partisan boilerplate talking points

The lack of paragraphs is far down on the list of things I think could help whatever argument he may have.
whatever

Wow, this was crazy. The thing that really surprised me is that someone reached back to the 1860's for relevance to today's political parties when they clearly swapped ideologies around the time of FDR.

Count me in for the "more specific examples, less rhetoric" camp.
