I created a league:

{ Sorry, you must be logged in to see this text! }

I made a few rules that are new to me: Quarterbacks who pass for 400 yards are to receive 2 bonus points, running backs who run for 200 yards get 2 bonus points and receivers who gain 150 yards receive 1 bonus point. I'm intrigued by these, but if people would rather not have them I'll change it. I like the idea.

EDIT: Also, ignore the draft time for now. The drop down menu to select the time won't work for me at the moment, so I'm going to try in a different browser. I'm aiming for a good time in the afternoon of a Saturday or Sunday close to the start of the season.

EDIT 2: OK, now the draft is set for August 30 (a Sunday) at 7 pm eastern time. West Coast drafters are free to record the draft and start it 30 minutes past the scheduled time if necessary.

Sorry. I only saw NFL on the logo and I never realized it was the NFL Network logo.

I originally looked for a FANTASY logo. I thought we used to have one, but I guess not.

You're welcome to do this, but the problem I have with it is that it happens so infrequently. In 2008, there was a 400 yard passer 8 times. Drew Brees (3,10), Brian Griese (3), Kurt Warner (4), Jay Cutler (10), Matt Cassel (11,12), Matt Schaub (14).
RBs ran for more than 200 rushing yards 3 times over the course of the season: Michael Turner (1,17), Derrick Ward (16).
There were twenty WRs with 150 or more receiving yards, so that's fine. Greg Jennings (2), Brandon Marshall (2,3), Santana Moss (2), Isaac Bruce (2), Larry Fitzgerald (2,11), Andre Johnson (6,15), Braylon Edwards (6), Calvin Johnson (7), Ted Ginn (8), Donnie Avery (8), Eddie Royal (10), Anquan Boldin (11), Terrell Owens (12), Steve Smith (12,15), Mark Clayton (13), Antonio Bryant (14), Roddy White (14).

So for 2008 the result of that change in scoring system would be that 3 players get an additional 4 points over the course of the season, 9 players get an additional 2 points over the course of the season, and 13 players get an additional 1 point.

Perhaps we could come up with some different amounts (or scrap the idea altogether). Giving points for 300 yards seemed too easy, but I agree with you given the numbers you provided. What would you suggest?

Given that it's only one or two points, I guess lowering it to 300 yards passing and 150 yards rushing wouldn't be terrible. I can also do it for multiple amounts (i.e., 2 bonus points for 300 yards passing, and another 1 or 2 for 400 yards). Also, the 1 or 2 point totals can go as high as 6 I believe, but I don't want to give out too many points this way.

The two-time defending (and three-time overall) champions of one W league or another, the dreaded Green Mist, are on board and ready to go.

I just read a little while ago that Yahoo mistakenly opened fantasy football for signups today, but then shut it down again. I don't know if that's true, but I'm looking and I'm not seeing a way to register.

When I saw that note about the mistaken opening, the question people were asking is whether the leagues that were created today will still exist once they open for real.

EDIT: apparently Yahoo is sending an e-mail saying the registrations will open up later this week. No word on whether the leagues created today will be kept.

I figured it night have been a bit early to register, but count me in whenever it does starts. Maybe this time, my first rounder won't go down for the whole season within the first half of the first game. *cross fingers*

Looks like the league is back up again and wasn't deleted.

I'm onboard again as BALLS DEEP and hoping to actually beat Green Mist in the championship game this time.

Btw...any chance we might be able to have the draft sometime between Monday thru Thursday evening? No big deal if nobody wants to, I'll just have to do a pre-draft.

I am in Cambodia, so the draft time to me makes no difference, because anytime that is convenient to me would be at a time when the rest of the league is asleep. I'll change the draft time to whatever suits the majority; I just assumed not-too-late on a weekend was the best time to accommodate East Coast and West Coast players.

And I've changed the bonus points statistics to the following:

a) 300 yards passing gains two bonus points; reaching 400 yards passing gains two more bonus points.

b) Running backs gain two bonus points for 100 yards and one more bonus point at 150 yards and 200 yards.

c) Receivers gain two points for 100 yards, and one more point for 150 and 200 yards.

As of right now, 13 of the 20 spots in the league have been filled.

8 offensive players plus a whole team for defense? This will be a short draft compared to my custom league where you have to draft defensive players.

I can do the saturday night timeline if needed, but like kevintripod, I would prefer if it could be held in the middle of the week. For me, the weekend isn't the best time because it holds the bulk of my work schedule and I can use every shift I can get. Either way, the early night time (8 PM or so) works for me, no matter the day.

Oh, and congrats to Zeruel on your 4,000th post. If I wasn't broke and actually knew where to deliever it, I probably would send you a hallmark card for this momentous occasion

I'd like someone on the West Coast to chime in and tell me if 5 pm on a weekday is doable. And if it isn't, is 9 pm too late for East Coasters?

Time zones are such a pain in the ass.

It is hard to make 5:00 PM. I get off work at 5:00 PM, and I don't want to draft at work. I also don't want to request time off for a draft.

This is what I figured. The draft is inevitably going to cause a conflict for some people, I think a weekend afternoon/evening is the best solution. I'll leave it where it is. Especially because I like having a draft close to the start of the season, and don't the good times get taken fast? Maybe I'm imagining the limit for how many drafts can go on at a certain time. If so, I'd be afraid to lose such a late draft date.

EDIT: There's only one spot left as of this moment.
