Was bumping around online, and managed to stumble across a story updating the Chris Masters situation, and thought I'd pass it along..
from dailywrestling.com:
Chris Masters has been off WWE TV for several weeks as a result of a failed "Wellness" drug test. It was reported that Masters tested positive for muscle-enhancing drugs, rumored to be anabolic steroids. Last night, Masters made his return to the ring at a TV taping for OVW. After sitting out his suspension and getting off the performance enhancing drugs, Masters' appearance has changed drastically - to the point where it would be impossible to keep his "Masterpiece" gimmick.
----------------------------------------------- Yikes. Definitely a difference, but I still think the new Rene Dupree was a lot more shocking.
Well, thank God for the fact that his wrestling ability completely makes up for his lack of body. Hey can we now get a cup for john cena to piss in so we can finally get him off tv. I dont WANT to see him!

Cena's actually already quite a bit smaller than he used to be. Remember, the wellness program only requires that you have less in your system than each previous test, not that you quit cold turkey.
That is just freaky. He now looks like a buffed up Kurt Warner. And has anyone else noticed that Bastista looks smaller since he has come back ? I don't know if it was the inability to work out or "other" things.
See, the thing is, from that angle it really is hard to tell how much smaller he's gotten. Certainly he looks smaller, but I'm going to need a better angle before I give it a yikes. As for Cena looking smaller, the same was said about Angle and I just don't see it. Batista, yeah, a bit.
He could continue the Masterpiece gimmick for as long as he's capable of acting like he thinks he's a work of art, regardless of whether it's true. He could go on an all-Twinkie diet and balloon to a flabby 350 pounds, but as long as he has the self-important music and posing, he'd be as much the Masterpiece as Buddy Rose was a Playboy.
The real threat to the gimmick isn't his loss of size and muscle tone. It's that coming back like nothing changed would be like hanging a big neon "YOU TOOK STEROIDS" sign above his head during his matches. WWE will want to obscure that with a particularly distracting repackaging. It seems to have worked with Rene Dupree, because I hadn't even noticed any change in size because I was too busy thinking "Why the hell is Rene Dupree on ECW?"
Now I'm wondering if he'll keep the Masterlock as a finisher. On the one hand, the whole point was that such a simple hold is devastating when applied by such a genetic marvel, so that psychology will be gone now. On the other hand, the move was getting over because it almost always led to the finish. Did they ever truly blow off the Masterlock challenge, because if they do now it's going to seem a little tainted.
Who the hell is Chuck? I can see the photo just fine myself. Too bad it wasn't a better angle so we could see how much definition he lost.

Wow Dupree doesn't even look like the same dude. They could have renamed him before he came out and I woulda never knew who he was.
Most of the guys who lost a large amount of mass probably relied on the juice too much. They probably are/were a little more lazy in the gym compared to others.

Dupree looks smaller there, but in his vignette on this week's ECW he didn't look far off the size he was when we last saw him. He's still in amazing shape, with muscles all over the place. I think that was just a bad angle.
To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires, and lights, in a box.-Edward R. Murrow

Well, I don't think you can be lazy in the gym and attain that much muscle mass. Steroids give you more energy and quicker recovery time so you can work out harder on a more frequent schedule. And then there are other drugs that let you keep the fat off while you're putting on mass.
It is curious indeed that the two of the three Masterpiece physiques we'll see at SummerSlam, along with John Cena, will be Vince McMahon's and Hulk Hogan's.
If these means we no longer have to listen to Lawler verbally fellate Masters every time his entrance music plays, I'm all for him losing the Masterpiece physique.

Actually, if they wanted to make him a delusional Masterpiece, Lawler continuing to fellate him would be all the funnier. "What're you talkin' about, JR?! Look at him, he's built like a Greek God!".

lol exactly, I would get a lot of laughs out of an angle like that.

No what I meant was the guys who lost alot of mass are probably lazier than the guys who didn't lose that kind of size. Im positive that the few we have noticed are not the only ones who were juicin it up pre-wellness. So basically the ones who didn't really change just worked harder to keep their size while these guys didn't.

Not necessarily. Again, because the program only requires you to have sequentially lower results with every test, I think we're just seeing guys go off the juice at different rates. Some guys are weening themselves down, but I figure some guys like Dupree and Masters are probably just going cold turkey. After all, if they can't keep their monster physiques without the juice, what would be the point trying to hold those gimmicks and wrestling styles as they get smaller and smaller?

Guys like Test and Lance storm. Are they improving atlast? Do you see any scope in them of being maineventers in the future or not. Both are talented Wrestlers. Lance storm is obviously a better wrestler than test.
