It was funny, sure, but I'm only cautiously optimistic going forward. Lowe plays the role really well...the melodrama is over-the-top and low key at the same time. I love how the show itself plays into it: the supporting characters are mesmerized by Lowe, the music is overly dramatic, the bartender says "you're not going to finish what you started?" It induces eye-rolling, but I guess that's the point. But maybe the gimmick gets tiring after a couple episodes? My initial overall reaction after it was over was ya know, this show would be AWESOME if it was fifteen minutes long and playing on Adult Swim.
We really liked it. Fred Savage is pretty great in his role. It's a shame he's been off TV for so long. (Yeah, I know he's been directing, but he's so enjoyable as a comedic actor). Episode two was pretty good too.
Seeing how great this show has been these last few weeks makes me wonder how it got canceled before. I absolutely loved "In the Year 252525", really good job with the song. And the sounds as Bender was gettin it on were hilarious.
