I know what the WWE is going for with the Anti Americans. I suppose that it is a better option than dragging Tiger Ali Sighn out in a black turban every week. I do however question their use of the flag. I really don't know how much added heat the upside down is really bringing the trio, if any. The Canadian flag is a proven heat seeker, and would probably work better in the long run than the upsidedown flag that they are currently using. I can't say that I'm really offended by an Upside down American flag, but it does leave an uneasy feeling in my gut about the angle as a whole.

I think WWE wants to leave the door open for the Un-Americans to allow entry to somebody from another country. If they needed a quick fix for a mid-card foreign wrestler, they can just hop in the group. Maybe like the Island Boys or something.

Is it a legal flag, though? Could be a few less stars or stripes, and it wouldn't be desecration.

I agree that the upside down flag gives me the creeps. As did tonight's comments about Bush being unable to defend the country.

Atlanta. 1992. Could this be some sort of twisted morbid payback for us Canadians that has been 10 years in the making?

I hate this whole Un-Americans angle. It just proves that the WWE writers are fucking morons. That they can't find any other way to get Lance Storm over than re-hashing an old WCW gimmick and an old WWF gimmick.

September 11th is a month away. Normally I am completely against being politcally correct or even censoring entertainment but this just leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth.

And how other way do you want him to get over? He is boring as hell in his promos. He's got a bland look about him. Sure he wrestles very well, but is he any more skilled than Chavo Guerrero? And don't bring up that ECW "Impact Players" garbage. Virtually no one currently watching WWE will even know what the hell they are talking about, let alone care.

Just be happy he gets on TV at all.

Every Raw for a year isn't as big as the World Series, though. Perhaps Wrestlemania...

I liked this angle since the beginning but tonight I started to like it a little less.

The upside down flag is one thing but the comments about 9/11 were just in bad taste. But Test/Slaughter kinda made a point, people hit us when we're not looking then run away like they're a big man.

This angle is a new low.

Ragging on Bush's inability to defend the country, saying our answer is to bomb innocent women and children? Saying stuff like that just to get cheap heel heat and advance a pathetically trite angle? That borders on obscene.

But something tells me the real obscenity comes next month.

Storm's really treading on thin ice with these tasteless comments. Tonight wasn't the first time, as he made comments that were just as bad on the July 4th Smackdown. I like the guy as a worker, but keep him the hell away from the mic if he's going to be making these types of promos, especially with 9/11 right around the corner. I'd like to make a case for Christian to be the leader of the group, but that's for another thread.

I'm not sure why this is, but the WWE (except for Lawler) is refusing to recognize these guys or let them acknowledge themselves as Canadians. Thus we have the name "Un-Americans" and the upside-down U.S flag instead of the more conventional Canadian flag.

September 11th was a tuesday and I don't see what that has to do with anything.

That day is forever burned into my brain because I saw it all happening in plain view. I'm in downtown Brooklyn with a perfect view of the Manhattan skyline. It was fuckin' unbelievable. Nowhere near the shit those terrorists do to the poor people of Israel but pretty fuckin' serious.

I remember Vince McMahon saying on "On the Record" with Bob Costas that the WWF will NEVER make light of or mention 9/11 for their angles but now I see Vince never keeps ANY promise.

I wasn't paying a ton of attention during the whole Storm promo about this, but as he was attacking Bush for ducking out on going to war, I read his statement about not being able to defend his country as being related to that prior thought, that he personally didn't go to defend his country, not as a 9/11 or a terrorism related thing. I don't know if that's what he meant and just said it poorly, but I truly have trouble believing he would be that tasteless as what the comments mean the other way, even in the context of a wrestling angle.

First off, the WRITERS write the stuff, not Storm, Christian, and/or Test, so don't blame them for what they say, blame the writers.

I'll catch a lot of heat for seeing this probably....but the "Un-Americians" do have some good points in their tirades. Bush *is* going awefully heavy handed with military force to solve issues. However I admit they have been going a little bit over the top gradually. I wonder how long it'll take the "Un-Amercians" to utter the names of Leger, Dyer, Green, and Smith (may they rest in peace).

Whether the Un-Americans make good points or not is irrelevant. (Personally, I think they DO make good points) The complaint I have is that those things do NOT need to be said on a wrestling show for the purpose of getting cheap heat. I was saying that Christian should be leader of this group and I believe he should because he can get just as much heat for the group without having to resort to tasteless comments the way Lance Storm does. Look at the July 4th Smackdown and compare Christian's rant on the youth of America seeing July 4th as the day Will Smith saved the world from aliens to Storm's inappropriate comments about Vietnam. Storm's promos hit below the belt. Christian's promos do not go past the line of tastelessness, therefore HE should be the primary mouthpiece.

If they wrote their own promos you may have a point (it's still debatable). But they DO NOT WRITE THEIR OWN PROMOS, THE WRITERS DO.

I finally switched on wrestling tonight for the first time in months, just in time to catch this angle.

The upside down flag I don't see as a really big deal and is perfectly acceptable. The comments about Bush and 9/11 were way over the line. It isn't like "Russian" wrestlers during the Cold War--this is a situation where thousands of deaths have occurred...it's not something to be used for wrestling promos, any more than the Holocaust would be.

But I definitely agree that it's the writers' fault, not the wrestlers.

However, I did have a markout moment when Slaughter showed up.

I'm probably not going to be tuning in again if that's the kind of stuff they're doing. Really tasteless.

You think this is bad, I walked in on "Inside Edition", where they ran a segment on college drinking. They said half as many people die from drinking each year as did in the WTC. >: Then, they also used the typical stock footage of people pouring beer using a blender as a pitcher (who the hell does that?) and other people getting drunk over spring break. -_-

This kinda stuff just doesn't belong in wrestling. Jeez, can they find anything else for Storm to do? If they want to do another Team Canada fine, but why keep ragging on the United States? Have Storm be an annoying Candaian or just gloat about his country. The comments on President Bush were WAY OVER THE LINE, and it is just a way for them to get really, really cheap heat. Find something else for these boys to do, because this has to go.

A lot of you may remember one Vincent K. McMahon spewing the buzz pharse at the time. Something along the lines that the WWF is no longer GOOD guy/BAD guy which was *passe*, but it's more like real life where characters are a shade of grey.
