I was wondering what wav to mp3 converter the majority of you use. Therre has to be something better than the ones people actually spend money on (fools). Personally, I use Musicmatch. But I was looking for an alternative in hoping that it could convert the files faster. Either that or I should just download or find the registration crack. Let me know what you think.
Audiograbber is nice for Windows, but it really depends on the codec you're using, at least in my opinion. The Fraunhoffer professional codec is great (but pricey) but you can find it on the net for free if you look hard enough. If I ever get my PC at home fixed I'll let you know where I got it.
"Nobody enjoys a good time more than I do, but this business of yours is as legitimate as a three-legged donkey...which of course is illegitimate because as we all know donkeys have four legs."
I have found that the EZ-CD Extractor works for me the best on a Windows, very simple, great quality and the hacks are available farily easy when searched...*cough*astalavista.com*cough*
Audio Grabber is also very good but i found it slow and it freezed up many times...dont know if the new one is more bug free.

I've been using an ancient version of Audiocatalyst that someone gave me because it didn't run on their computer. I've had decent luck with it. The mp3 didn't sound much better than anything that I did with LAME codec before, though, so I'm not sure what to tell you.
WinAMP has been sporadic for me. It will work flawlessly on my laptop for a few discs- then I'll get a CD worth of crap. Eh.
Damn you CRZ and your mac ways... just give it up and join the darkside. This goes for you penguin-heads out there too. Bill Gates will rule the world some day. Bill Gates makes the most technologically sound hardware and software on the planet. Bill Gates is the all seeing, all knowing computer programmer. Bill Gates... DAMMIT. I don't know why that keeps happening. Ever since my friend installed windows xp on his tower, I've been going in and out of trances like that. Anyway, thanks for the feedback. By the way, I don't know dick about Linux and I don't have a mac. I'm currently running Windows 2000 as it appears to me to be the most stable of the lot (HA!). I have heard people say that they use winamp to convert the files, but I don't know how to do it since I'm not as computer savvy as I claim to be. Stupid lack of knowledge. But I'll give some of those a try since musicmatch seems to be in a pissy mood lately.
Talking about MP3's, what device do you guys use to hear the music, i bought a CD/MP3 player which can handle about 150Mp3's per burned CD and i like it a lot since i can also play regular cd's and hook it up in my car...but i'm also thinking of buying a true Mp3 player, like the Archos or the RioVolt. And what about the new Ipod, i don't use apple but want to know how the new ipod works...
I personally have been mostly ignoring mp3s these days, having gotten a Mini-Disc player (who knew Wal-Mart carried them?) and realizing that they absolutely kick ass now.. one MD can hold 4 CDs worth of music, in a cute little color coded package. *blink*

you have got to be kidding!
when I do the math: Microsoft + Bill Gates = Satan
are you really serious that WhenDoze is that good? I use Win2000 at work and don't find it to be stable. It crashes a lot. Have you tried doing a Disk Cleanup? Works fine at home (Win98), but at work, it doesn't work. Does nothing! What a piece of crap. I've had enough of WhenDoze, which is the reason why I'm learning Linux at home.
Sarcasm, meet Addy. Addy, Sarcasm. Hope that the two of you have a long and prosperous relationship. Anyway, when saying that windows 2000 "appears to be the most stable of the lot (HA!)", I am making a comparison between win2k and the overall crappiness that is windows. "most stable of the lot" is a relative term meaning that for me, win2k crashes less and gives me less problems than any of the other windows os's (with the exception of 3.1). I do not have the problem that you are speaking of, but I also have the laptop that Godzilla used when he conquered Japan. 4600 words? Impressive. I'm certain that I could write a whole book full of useless windows-based diatribes. But why would anyone want to read it? Does it give windows haters a sense of justification such as "Yeah, take that windows!"? I'm just some internet guy letting the world read my useless opinions anyway, so why would I want to take it to that next step? Would I want to write something of that nature because I work for some "tech" website? Is there any meaning to this diatribe? So, one might ask me "Kidbrooklyn, why don't you use linux or convert to mac?" Simple. Too damn lazy and too damn comfortable with what I have now to change. Maybe when windows decides to kill one of my family members, I will change.
kidding aside, the point of the 4600 rage letter was pointing out the MS dosn't care. It makes you wonder if the programmers uses if own applications. If it did, WhenDoze would be better.
I'm not telling you and anyone to try a new OS. When you said win2k was the most stable, I thought you meant of ALL OS. Thats all. I hope it clears this
I have a sorta-uncle (best friend of my Dad's) who lives in Columbus with his wife and son and we've both been paying very close attention to this from the word go...
