IJ, predictably, loved this movie. It was kind of a throwback in that there wasn't a very deep moral and there were a lot of slapstick, physical gags. The actors they used for the voices were perfect for their parts, and some of the scenic animation was so good that it was easy to forget that it wasn't real.

I'd have to say that unlike most "second animated flicks that are basically similar but different enough to not be a total ripoff of the first" I really liked Surf's Up a million times better than Happy Feet. I REALLY disliked Happy Feet.

The penguins from Madagascar are still the superior animated movie-penguins, of course.

We took the daughter to see this and we both enjoyed it, best animated movie of the year so far, in my opinion.

The part I liked was that while every single character was a walking stereotype, they were all very low-key about it. It didn't become their whole character like it does in some movies.
