By the way, someone did pick him in our fantasy league.
We'll be back right after order has been restored here in the Omni Center.

Bayne wasn't even listed on the odds sheets, just as a group called "OTHERS" at 30 to 1.
And how about NASCAR once again changing it's rule after the season starts to allow Bayne to join the Sprint series and get his points. If Bayne is SMART, he'll elect to say with the Nationwide series points.....
Anyhow, what a great Daytona 500... Too bad the next couple of races in Phoenix and Fontana will be a snore fest.

Got to say, I'm surprised that I was the only one to pick Bayne. Considering how well he did in qualifying and the duel, while I had no belief he would win, I thought he had a pretty good shot at a top 10-15 which is great for a group C pick.
I would gloat about this but then I'm the idiot who decided 10 minutes before the race to start Reutimann instead of either Bowyer or McMurray because I had a 'hunch'. So that said, congratulations to Oliver on his Daytona win. Maybe it isn't Pieman we need to focus on banging into the wall ;) .

They weren't going to allow his points to count, just his win. He was facing an uphill battle to get from 39th to in the top-20 in points if he switched. Kind of NASCAR was like "no...we thought of this happening...REALLY!" when they were ill-prepared to have a non-Cup guy win the biggest race of the year.
(Also, the rule is stupid in the first place.)

I like the rule you have to pick one series in points. It was destroying the Nationwide series and if we want to see new drivers instead of the old recycled crap the Sprint Cup keeps throwing at us, they needed to do this.
That said, Bayne did well in the Daytona 500 but is listed as a 100 to 1 shot this weekend in Phoenix and I suspect he won't run well outside of restrictor place races, due to being on a weak team with underfunded ownership (Wood brothers).
I hope I am wrong about Bayne. But I suspect by the time they go to the crap tracks (Michigan, Chicago, Pocono, Kansas, Atlanta etc) fans will lose interest in NASCAR again.
