This (sports.espn.go.com) seemed to come as a bit of a surprise. To me anyway.
Injuries really caught up with him the last few years I guess, and arguably really hurt his HOF chances. Still, a heck of a quarterback in his day, and I guy I always enjoyed watching.
I guess this ensures the Ravens are drafting a QB in the first couple rounds. They probably want to find themselves a servicable veteran as well though, cause I sure as heck wouldn't feel happy about Kyle Boller being the exeprienced presence under centre.
In the Baltimore/DC area, talk of his retirement started mid-season last year. It wasn't a matter IF he announced it, but WHEN he would do it and hopefully before the draft.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3805670 Manning wins MVP. There should be an investigation. Rivers? Pennington? Brees? All had better seasons with fewer weapons and didn't get to play against high school teams the last half of season.
