So Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley is "pregnant".

Christ.

Of all the possible story lines available, from all the federations, all over the world - they dredge up a clunker from the dying days of WCW. This is a *DAVID FLAIR* angle, people.

Will Kurt Angle take the Shawn Stasiak role?

Actually, it's a Terri Runnels angle.

I think Russo planned for the Stacey angle to actually follow through with a birth. Terri's was faked because she's a goldigger.

Inspired by the crowd chant of "it's not yours" which I heard during that seemingly interminable segment, I pose the question, who do YOU want to see as the daddy? I vote Vince Russo, just so all the circles of bad pregnancy angles can be closed.

There, I feel better now.

I was SO hoping that we would get out of that segment without Stephanie announcing a pregnancy. From the way she was preening in the locker area earlier, I had this terrible feeling that she was going to announce a pregnancy. When it looked like HHH was going to leave the ring after totally dissing her "renewal of vows" plan and shouting her down, I was breathing a sigh of relief - then I saw Steph building up "emotion" and said to myself "Oh no, here it comes ". (I loved the "It's not yours" chants that followed the announcement, though.)

I fear that this will go more like the Stacy Kiebler WCW angle - which was played as a serious pregnancy within an actual "couple" - than the Terri Runnels WWF angle, which seemed played mainly for the humiliation of D'Lo Brown. I also fear that we will have a challenge to the paternity of the "child", either from Angle (to restart the bizarre love triangle) or Jericho.

What!? Three posts in and no "Game Boy" jokes yet?

Man, you guys are slippin'!

Anyways...if we have to choose someone other than HHH, I'd go with Angle. Of course if I was booking, I'd actually make it HHH's baby just to swerve everyone.

Well, Steph and Trips are a real life couple, so keep that image in your head there. In all seriousness though, I seriously doubt it's anything but a work.

If it's Jericho's kid, then I'll be impressed that they're clearing up their storylines in a rational way that shows a long-term plan.

If she's not pregnant and this is revealed by the end of no Way out, I'll give them a touch of credit for trying to bump the buyrate with a story that could feed into an angle at Wrestlemania.

Anything else, and it's just lamer than lame. Hella-lame. Night Court in its fifth season lame.

Nobody believes that Stephanie is pregnant (except for HHH and the announcers). But if you honestly believe that this is something the WWF will go through with, you're kidding yourself.

If Jericho comes out and breaks up the wedding and takes Stephanie, I'll be happy. Have her tell HHH she's pregnant to set him up for the fall.

Yes, it's tacky. Yes, it's been done. But I'm not as completely repulsed by this as everyone else apparently.

It doesn't fit Angle or Booker's character. It fits Vince's but his storyline is completely seperate. But if we are to believe that HHH/Jericho will be the WM2k2 mainevent, then I have to believe that Chris Jericho will walk out soon, if not at RAW next week, with Stephanie by his side and with HHH fuming about the whole thing.

Stephy's pregnant, eh? Hmm, does that mean D'Lo will come back and do chores for her (like buying tampons) under the "suggestions" of HHH?

Actually, it's a Beulah McGillicutty angle. In January 1996, when she was Raven's valet, she announced that she was pregnant. Raven beat up Stevie thinking he must have been the father, but then she announced that the child was Tommy Dreamer's. Of course, she wasn't really pregnant, even in the storyline. It was later revealed that she only said it to break off with Raven and get on the good side of Dreamer, who had been piledriving her at every house show for the last 10 or so months. And then we found out that she was really bisexual and her and Kimona and... eh, err, well let's not even go there with this flashback.

But I still to this day wonder why exactly Dreamer and Beulah were supposed to have, uh, taken it to the extreme, despite Dreamer's beating the crap out of her on a regular basis. Maybe they bumped into one another at one of the Sandman's get-togethers after a few too many drinks...

Nah. But with the hint at her having affairs, if there really is a child in the storyline (which I hope there isn't) then it's anyone but H's. Jericho's probably, which would be just about as odd as the Dreamer & Beulah thing, all things considered.

OMFG - saw it happening in the first locker room skit, was scared shitless about it, thought we were safe when it was simply renewing the marriage vows, and then promptly changed the channel after, "I'M PREGNANT!", never to watch the rest of the show. Man, and the quality of the WWF's Big Two shows had been improving over the past few weeks, too...

Call me a smark, but this sucks. So every time I see this stuff on my TV, I'll change the channel. I encourage everyone else who was put off by this crap to do the same thing. Maybe I/we won't make much of a dent in the ratings, but it's the only real way to voice any discontent with this crap.

ROTFL!!! Oh man, you have no idea how much I needed that laugh after the Monday I've had, man... thank you soooo much.

I'd try to find more humor in this angle.. but it's too late on a Monday night, and I'm too tired to try. Maybe tomorrow...

LOL!

But let's look at it this way: if she's pregnant, they'll have to keep her off my TV off a few months, and that's a good thing!

Let's get some other HHH baby jokes out of the way:

The child will be born with an amazing physique, yet the nurses will be puzzled at how the baby already has acne all over its back at such a young age.

And the baby will use its backstage power to make sure that it gets the crib by the window in the nursery.

Now, for serious discussion: this angle sucks. Christ almighty does this suck. The ONLY way that this would have been interesting is if it has been done back when HHH and Angle were feuding over Steph and it turned out the baby was Kurt's. But you still have to do the abortion/miscarriage angle to blow it off, which always looks tasteless.

Did Time-Warner force the WWF to purchase all of WCW's crappy angles in order to get it at a low price?
