Ken Kennedy debuted a new finisher: Jeff Hardy fans will insist on calling it the Swanton Bomb, but it looks WAY more devastating when not performed by a 180-pound fruitcake. -Rick Scaia 06.12.2006
I just hope that they can hold off on Venom until Spider-Man 4, as he at least deserves a full movie, and this mostly focuses on the blow off to the Spidey-Green Goblin 2 feud that's been brewing. But based on that trailer, I'll see it opening weekend no matter what.
You believe me, don't you? Please believe what I just said...
Dude, they could have the frickin' Big Wheel and Hypno-Hustler as the villains, and I'd still go to see it at the opening day midnight screening.
"You know what the fellow said: In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love. They had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock." --- Harry Lime (Orson Welles) in The Third Man
Man, this looks great. I like how Peter gets the bad emo haircut when he's under the dark influence of the symbiote. And was that Gwen Stacy he was dancing with? Interesting!
I HATE HATE HATE that we have to wait until May of '07 for this to come out.
Sam Raimi may have mastered the art of the tease. Both Spider-Man & the sequel had excellent teasers, then excellent trailers, and then were good enough when released to make insane amounts of money.
All I want is action, suspense, and a Bruce Campbell cameo.
Best trailer I've seen since the SPIDER-MAN 2 interntional version.
Venom's in this movie.
And Campbell appears as Quentin Beck....nudge nudge.
To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires, and lights, in a box.-Edward R. Murrow
X-men 3 just started filming ten months before it was released. And they had NOTHING like this ready.
Got to hand it to Sony. They know how not to mis-manage the Spider-man movies and run them into the ground like Fox did X-men and just about every other Marvel comic book property they have touched.
This looks absolutely awesome. The black costume looks great in action. Some fanboys are still whining about the changes of the black costume from the comics. But honestly? Screw them.

I've been thinking about this... Venom looks like he does because he's the black Spider-Man costume on steroids with a giant mouth full of teeth, basically. Does that mean that the movie Venom will look like the 'new' black costume on steroids with teeth, or will he still look like the traditional all black with a big white spider (and 'roids and teeth)? I'm really curious to see how they are going to handle this.

Hey man, get it right: It's roids, teeth and TONGUE.
"How could we possibly appreciate the Mona Lisa if Leonardo had written at the bottom of the canvas: 'The lady is smiling because she is hiding a secret from her lover.' This would shackle the viewer to reality, and I don't want this to happen to 2001." - Stanley Kubrick

They need to go nowhere near the Erik Larsen-inspired rendering of Venom, with the drool and teeth and tongue. The McFarlane version was scary and dangerous and inspired and didn't need to go over the top.
This teaser made Topher Grace (Topher Grace!) look menacing.
Did anyone see the Spider-Man eyes appear out of nowhere in the landing-and-crouching shot? Don't know if it was just the motion blur, but it was awesome.
This is Sam Raimi we are talking about. I have no doubt Venom when we see him in his full glory will look awesome, fucked up, and scary, and he will have teeth and the tongue.
There are rumors from the SHH from someone who claims to know insider info, saying that Venom's body will have white veins bulging out that will look like a "twisted version" of Spidey's web scheme on his costume. And that he would have the big white spider emblem.
If you notice on the black costume that Spidey wears, the spider emblem HAS changed. It looks similar to the Venom emblem from the comics.
