If people didn't want the first five seasons, why would they watch the sixth? Let the horrible show die in peace, already. Not understanding Yahoo's reasoning. If they want to get a streaming service going, shouldn't they focus on popular shows?

If a show is popular, they have a lot better options than Yahoo.

This is great news. I'm pretty excited to see what Harmon & Co. can do without the constraints of a broadcast network. I'm just totally stoked to see what they come up with...

Also, some of the more popular shows on Hulu do not have the highest ratings in their broadcast timeslots:

And “Community,” which NBC just cancelled after five low rated seasons, was the top ranked show on Hulu in January, in terms of visits to its individual show page, according to SimilarWeb.

April’s top show on Hulu was also an NBC comedy: “Parks and Recreation,” which like “Community” has never scored big ratings but has been loved by critics. NBC has picked up ”Parks and Recreation,” which has landed in Hulu’s top 10 ranking each of the last four months, for a seventh and final season, though the show doesn’t currently have a spot on NBC’s fall schedule.

“While shows such as “Community” or “Parks and Recreation” are often referred to as niche content, when it comes to online viewership the story is completely different,” said Daniel Buchuk, SimilarWeb’s Head of Brand & Strategy.

Of course, I hadn't realized this would be Parks & Recreations's final season, so now I am sad again.

Couldn't they have gotten The Crazy Ones instead?

There are days where I miss the Dreamcast.

I thought Veronica Mars was a flop. It took in about $3.5 million with a $6 million budget.

Nous ne nous pouvons pas sortir.
But how much money does it really have to recoup when Kickstarter provided 5.7 million in advance? Seems like it either made or lost a marginal amount.

Yes, I would say semantically that Veronica Mars made $5.7 million, which it then splurged on its angel investors. Grander point being, the ardent, effusive fanbases of cult/crit shows can be mobilized and monetized by fledgling companies looking for instant attention and goodwill. It's an exciting new era where fringe fanbases (or Fringe fanbases?) are now getting to be commodified data points with utility just like mainstream audiences. Feels good!

This is why you're my best internet friend.

Two more things:
1) Everyone who posts in Community threads just to shit on the show, shit your little hearts out while the Cult of Greendale continue to enjoy what is usually a bizarrely delightful, sometimes brilliantly funny, and always amazingly insular user-unfriendly jamboree of Harmony and that being said...
2) "My fellow Americans, our long national nightmare is over..."

In depth TV Guide article on this pickup says

- everyone else (Comedy Central, USA, Crackle, Hulu) had turned down bringing it back. Netflix is not mentioned by name. It seems like the sticking point was the $2 million/episode cost. Yahoo! said yes at the last minute.

- the main cast is set to return, but it's possible some may leave early like Glover. John Oliver is definitely too busy (he's too busy to podcast, the bigger tragedy), but Jonathan Banks possibly may make a guest appearance. They haven't decided if they'll add someone new. Writers have moved on as well.

- you'll have to download the (free, ad supported) Yahoo! Screen app to watch the episodes.

- episodes will be released "sometime in the fall", and one a week.

Sony even negotiated a deal with USA Network last year to bring back Happy Endings until a last-minute snag pulled the plug.

Fuck's sake. It's not too late. All you have to do is get all the actors to all break existing deals, including the new series by the creator and his cast "mate" wife.

Pretty amazing that there's almost certainly really going to be And A Movie, in some form or fashion. That's where you bring back Troy, and make time for John Ol, and ideally make the Triple H deal with Chevy (sure he faked his death again) just for the sake of completeness.

I have to agree - if they cut out the ZOMBIE CHICKS, this show would be a hell of a lot better. The action stuff is really fun.
