Dark Match #1: Bull Buchanan & Some Guy lost to R.C. Haas and Some other guy. Poor acoustics saw me miss their partner's names. The only heat here wasa "Go Leafs Go" chant. Haas had an interesting submission to win it. Kind of a half figure-four, half Liontamer, but not a Sharpshooter.

Dark Match #2: Scott Vick beat a local guy. Nice that Scott can get over the news of his sister's corpse being violated for this match. He won with a Kryptonite Crunch/Crash Landing. It was the finsiher used on the tryout match on the Beyond the Mat movie.

Dark Match #3: The Big Valboski defeated Shelton Benjamin. Benjamin looked good, but he did flub the WOW catapult badly. Bring Disciplinarian into train them. Actually, bring Disciplinarian in anyhow. Nice Blue Thunder Bomb from Val. Val won with a goofy submission.

Velocity #1: Tajiri defeated Funaki. Fun opening promo. Funaki said Tajiri would be more popular if he stopped making silly faces and smiled like Tajiri. Sho countered the Tarantula with a reverse powerbomb, but still got knocked silly by a kick.

Velocity #2: Albert over a local guy, sounded like Ali Rude. Albert now calls himself "wicked sexy" and invited people to run their fingers through his fur. I prefer the Hairy Back Brothers of Test Pattern fame.

Velocity #3: Crash beat Shannon Moore with the ol' Greco-Roman hand on the ropes counter. Good though, even without a bunch of spots.

Faarooq & D-Von do the run down the city on the Titantron thing to get heat. If you want cheap heat in Canada, insult our beer.

Smackdown #1: Edge/Rey advanced to the finals of the tag tourney, defeating D-Von & Faarooq. Very short. Rey was face-in-perilfor about a minute, and the squash was then on. Edge & Rey were already mega-over without any need for the earlier promo.

They ran another of those "Anthology" promos. Using Warrior's music. The consensus in the section when the "Coming Nov. 8" was followed by Warrior was "Good lord, No!"

Funaki interviews Tajiri. Aw, they patched things up already. He'll referee the Nidia/Knoble match. Nidia tries to sweet talk Tajiri.

Smackdown #2: Nidia lost to Jamie Knoble. All through the match, Jamie wouldn't hit Nidia, but she kept kicking him in the groin, and trying for pinning combos. Eventually, Knoble rolled her up. Both argue with Tajiri after the match, and start beating him up. They then stop, and then they make up. Aw! To quote Dan Fielding, Love is a meny splinted thing.

An on-screen Undertaker promo gets What-ted. He says he met Tracy long before he met Sara.

Cena cuts a quick promo blaming Kidman for the loss last week, since he tapped out.

Smackdown #3: John Cena (in the blue & white of the Jays, Argos and Leafs) beat Billy Kidman. Total WCW Saturday Night main event type match. That isn't a bad thing for me, but the crowd felt differently. Lots of "Cena Sucks" chants. Foot on the ropes pin puts away Kidman.

Stephanie sends Tracy off Smackdown. Big woop. Undertaker later rants in Steph's office, taking out his rage on an innocent lamp.

Smackdown #4: Brock Lesnar beat Chuck Palumbo. Not a complete squash. CP got a near pin off an overhead belly-to-belly, followed by a pair of Jungle kicks. He eventually fell to the F5. Post-match, Taker runs in a bloodies Brock with the cast. I'm guessing the Goldberg chants will be edited out.

Uh oh. Torrie and her dad are here. He gives her flowers, but the card reads "Dawn Marie", which Torrie doesn't notice.

Smackdown #5: Rikishi/Torrie lost to Mattitude/Dawn Marie.
Matt's new entrance video is priceless. The match was total comedy. A pair of stinkfaces. Matt rolled over a pinnign combo Torrie had on Dawn Marie for the win for his team. Torrie teased a stinkface on Matt, but as he closed his eyes, he got Rikishi. This stuff was incredibly over, and I'll confess I got into it.

Paul complains to Stephanie about the use of the cast, saying that it shouldn't be allowed at HIAC. There's blood on his jacket, and he's likely pissed cause he only had three more payments left on the thing. Steph will decide lated.

A great segment sees Eddy and Chavo visit Benoit in his locker room and deny any responsibility for last week. He goes from calm (with Chavo stroking Eddy's head) to a rage. Funny, funny stuff. Benoit doesn't say a word.

Smackdown #6: Chris Benoit/Kurt Angle over Eddy & Chavo Guerrero. Great match, and it broke the magic 10 minute mark. Edge & Rey lay out the Guerreros, and then turn their attention to Benoit/Angle. The fans "You Suck"ed Angle's entrance, but did chant his nameduring the heat segment on Benoit. The ending sees Eddy in the ankle lock, and Benoit with a chair in the ring. Benoit shakes hands with Chavo, as Angle turns to see this. Chris then blasts the Guerreros. Eddy staggers into the Angle Slam for 3. Worth tuning in for.

Stephanie says Taker can wear the cast at HIAC. Brock/Heyman were in the ring for this, and Brock backs Stephanie into the corner. He whispers in her ear, and plays with her hair. Taker runs in for another cast attack. Heyman gets bloodied and chokeslammed and we're out of here.

Good show overall. The ACC was maybe 60 percent full, with about 40 percent of the upper deck tarped off.

i was there, too.. sec 103, row 16, seat 7. good show, lively crowd, not very many boring parts, and nothing outright SUCKED except for the main event promo.. which wasn't that bad, as i was able to keep myself amused with thoughts of lesnar laying steph out with the f5.

for the record, the opening ovw jobber tag match was: r.c. haas and sly (i'm pretty sure) vs. bull buchanon and redd dogg. scott vick faced textbook, as brewguy pointed out, and albert faced bobby rude. if anybody on the board is familiar with the annual ecwa super 8 tournament, they may remember rude as a first round loser of this year's tourney.

funaki vs tajiri, which only lasted an almost criminal 3'56", was very good in it's condensnessessed. funaki got some good reactions, and the match was well worked all around. benjamin vs venis will HOPEFULLY be included on velocity, but doubtfully, as benjamin is a raw guy. good match, well worth watching. albert vs rude was a total squash, but albert's pre-match mic work was astounding in the amount of heat it drew. crash vs moore, i thought, was boring as hell. i was praying for a styles clash, but NO. i was unrewarded.

edge/rey vs damn testify was good for a 4'30"ish match, with no slow spots and a lot of good, quick moves in a short amount of time. rey and edge were mega over, of course, and damn testify's *house promo* got them a bit more over as heels to the toronto crowd.

i was the only visible person in the arena cheering for noble.. but unfortunately, the match was just throwaway nonsense. maybe funaki's prematch promo with tajiri may lead to a "smackdown's finest" team of the new #1 ref, tajiri and sd!'s #1 announcer. hey, it could happen! they WERE just fighting each other about an hour beforehand (4 days after the fact in this case).

cena vs kidman was very heatless, but not a bad match. boring for the first while, but picked up well at the end. a long match, too, running between 6 and 8 minutes. i offhandedly remarked "this match has been going on forever! if this was raw, these guys could have fought 6 times by now!!!", which got a great reaction from the people around me. i aim to please. a few "cena sucks" chants were abound in this one.

lesnar got a fair pop and a bit of heat when he came out, but his ensuing match with palumbo was pretty much heatless except for palumbo's crazy super kicks, and a good counter to the tree of woe. ending was foregone, so there was no need to give the match 5 or 7 minutes.

matt hardy version 1.0 has a new entrance, and it's great. you guys owe it to yourselves to check it out. version 1.0 got some cheers, and a lot of jeers. a few people tried unsuccessfully to start a "we want jeff!" chant, but i quickly shut them up with a loud "you want jeff?!?! YOU ALREADY HAVE THE TALENTED HARDY RIGHT HERE!" match was comedic, but not bad.

eddie, chavo and benoit's promo was amazing, and well worth checking smackdown out JUST FOR THIS ONE PROMO ALONE. the whole arena was cracking up at eddie's heartfelt comments, especially the crying on the shoulder, and chavo's reactions. the following angle and benoit promo was good, as well, and the crowd was waiting ALL NIGHT for angle, which was awesome.

angle/benoit vs guerreros was really really good, even with the nonsensical shenanigans before the match started. so rey and edge can destroy four fresh guys after they've already had a match and been attacked? riiight.. the match itself was awesome, running about 13 minutes from the first contact made by eddie and angle (no opening bell). there were a couple of quiet spots, but those ended quickly with "ANGLE! *clap clap*", "ANGLE! ANGLE! ANGLE!" and "WE WANT ANGLE! *clap clap clapclapclap*" chants. the crowd was TOTALLY pro-angle. they were very "whatever" towards the guerreros, and benoit didn't really get any pops except for his entrance.

the main event interview was whatever, and i've purposely ignored all of the taker/brock/steph stuff tonight because i DID NOT CARE ABOUT IT AT ALL.

paul heyman ruled the school with his post show antics. "ow. ow. ow. ow. i.. i.. hate canada." was awesome, and the ref giving him a wedgie was great, too! crawling up the ramp badmouthing the crowd was also awesome. yay for paul! i was worried that we wouldn't get anything uber-cool after the cameras went off, but thanks to paul, my fears remained unfulfilled!

Though I wasn't there myself, I'm pretty sure that this textbook guy is "Textbook" Tyson Dux. I've seen him at a few local Southern Ontario shows, and he's not bad.

Good lord, that's FREAKIN GENIUS!! Why didn't anybody else think of this? I mean, it at least sounds good enough for NWA: TNA.

Brewguy's right. It's endless material. I can picture JR and The King now.

"There's a vertical suplex."
"That's a TEXTBOOK vertical suplex, JR."

"Lateral press. Only got a two-count."
"That's a TEXTBOOK two-count, JR."

"BY GAWD, WHAT A VILE CHAIRSHOT!"
"That's a TEXTBOOK chairshot, JR."

Damn, that's GENIUS!!

"See Nash, you can wear any Halloween costume you want to, but you know and I know that you're only half the man that I am - and I have half the brain that you do."

Ah, I miss Sid. So much endless material.

    "nothing outright SUCKED"

The Taker's locker room promo was the only thing that even reached "I didn't like this" stage.

"albert's pre-match mic work was astounding in the amount of heat it drew"

It stunned me as well. His entrance was greeted with more of a groan originally, so I'll use the "Any port in a storm" argument and be done with it.

"matt hardy version 1.0 has a new entrance, and it's great."

I'll try to describe it. It's done search engine style in the opening, and then segues into Matt's video and picture in opening and closing windows. Only Shelton Benjamin's came close in terms of entertainment value.

    "cena vs kidman"

Was that the first time that Kidman countered the powerbomb, but didn't do so with the facebuster?

"this match has been going on forever! if this was raw, these guys could have fought 6 times by now!!!",

There was a lot of criticism of RAW in my section. A couple guys tried to think up new and intriguing RAW angles. Victoria revealing that Trish Stratus was born a man got my vote, with honourable mention to Godfather returning as Papa Shango, and casting a voodoo spell to bring Katie Vick back to life.
"ending was foregone, so there was no need to give the match 5 or 7 minutes."

The resthold segment in the middle could have gone.

"eddie, chavo and benoit's promo was amazing"

I cant wait to see the CRZ transcript of this.

"the main event interview was whatever, and i've purposely ignored all of the taker/brock/steph stuff tonight because i DID NOT CARE ABOUT IT AT ALL."

I did the same for the segment with Mr. Wilson & Dawn Marie in the shower.

I should point out that wrestling history may have been made. My ticket listed the start time as 7:45, but the matches started at 7:40.

A question to Brew and the others who attended, how many segments was Taker in?

Should be another good Smackdown. Los Guerreros vs. Angle/ Benoit will probably be the match of the night.

You forgot King's numerous puppies and HLA references to screw a perfectly good dialogue up.

1) getting mic'd up in the back while cole and tazz (presumably) talk about how the undertaker is NEXT. (20 seconds?)
2) telling his side of the story from the locker room, talking about tracy or whatever, and getting "what?"'ed pretty badly. (5 minutes TOPS, maybe about 3)
3) running in after brock vs palumbo and whooping brock's ass. (2 minutes, maybe 3)
4) going to steph's office and breaking her lamp, protesting the cast-taking-off-thing. (1 minute)
5) running in at the end of the main event interview, getting taken out by brock, but coming back in and destroying lesnar and heyman to end the show. (3 to 5 minutes)

so 5 (i think) in total, for about 14 minutes screen time MAXIMUM, probably less, maybe near 10 or 11.

angle/benoit vs guerreros WILL be match of the night, unless editing of another match makes the match THAT much better. i need to see it taped to be a fair judge, but live, the match was rocking.

for the record, angle/benoit and the guerreros all got more screen time than taker did. so good for them.

Okay, okay, let's get this out of the way first. The big news is over here (The W). You can find my thoughts on it over there as well, but the upshot is that 2016 really is going to be a big, big year for NXT. Not to start, though.
