TONIGHT! It's SmackDown #600! Also, it's the go-home show for the Elimination Chamber and they lead us in with...a coronation ceremony for Dolph Ziggler. Hang on to your hats, folks! We're in for some CRAP! SmackDown #600 is NOW!
Here's a promo for the upcoming show and the pending 12-man main event with all the EC participants.
Opening credits - Do You Know Your Enemy? No opening pyro, as we simply get a graphic for the Dolph Ziggler coronation.
"THE RATED R SUPERSTAR" EDGE, RANDY ORTON, JOHN MORRISON, R-TRUTH, REY MYSTERIO & JOHN CENA v. CM PUNK, KING SHEAMUS, WADE BARRETT, DREW McINTYRE, KANE & DOLPH ZIGGLER So I guess I'm not supposed to remember that Wade Barrett and CM Punk hate each other or that John Cena and Edge are mortal enemies. Gotcha. Booker makes me laugh by noting that King Sheamus is no King Bookah! Good lord, did they give The Corre new music YET AGAIN?! PICK SOMETHING, for gravy's sakes!
We start with Edge and McIntyre locking up. McIntyre pounds away in the corner and points menacingly to the face corner. Edge reverses and starts hammering in the corner and hits McIntyre with a big boot. Tag is made to R-Truth, who hammers away. Truth gets caught telegraphing a backdrop, allowing McIntyre to tag Dolph in. Dolph runs right into a hiptoss. Tag is made to Orton, who gets a big pop on the way in. Orton works over Dolph in the corner and hits a big clothesline. Orton hits the kneedrop and tags to Cena. Cena goes for a corner charge and eats elbow. Cena reverses a whip and hits a bulldog before tagging Morrison. Dolph goes low on Morrison and starts stomping away. Morrison reverses a corner whip and clips Dolph. He wants Starship Pain, but Dolph beautifully counters it with an inverted powerslam! That takes us to our first ad break of the night.
We come back with Sheamus hitting a vertical suplex on Morrison for 2. Tag is made to CM Punk, who starts striking away and mocks Morrison. He covers for 2. The faces rally the crowd like crazy, really getting them into it, as Punk hits the leg scissors. Morrison struggles to his corner and manages to reach out and tag Rey. Rey comes in with a top-rope seated senton. Rey hits a springboard crossbody for 2. Punk tries a sunset flip, but Rey rolls over and kicks him in the head for 2. Punk goes for the GTS, but Rey slips out and hits the headscissors. He wants the 619, but Punk catches it and turns it into a backbreaker. Tag is made to Kane, who hammers on Rey in the corner. Time to hit the bear hug. Rey breaks the hold and kicks Kane, before getting shoved into the heel corner. Rey frantically fights off the heels, but walks into the GOOZLE! Rey slips out of Kane's chokeslam attempt, but Kane slides him out bar-room style into CM Punk. Looks like Punk was supposed to catch him on the way down, but it didn't look like it went too well. Either way, we take our next ad break.
We come back with Wade Barrett hitting a BIG backbreaker on Rey for 2. Barrett shoves Rey into the heel corner and tags Sheamus. Rey nearly slips out and makes the tag, before Sheamus brings him back over. Sheamus hits the armbar, as we see that The Chaperone is in theaters now! Obviously infuriated by a crawl for a bad Triple H movie, Rey Mysterio powers himself back up. He leaps for the face corner, but gets caught. Rey comes off the ropes, but his clothesline is turned into the Irish Curse for 2. Tag is made to Barrett, who hits a stomp and kneedrop. Barrett hits a big headbutt for 2. Barrett whips Rey into the corner. Rey stops himself and suckers Barrett in, hitting him with a drop toehold into the turnbuckle. Rey hits a top-rope moonsault press and both men are down. Tags are made to Edge and Dolph. Edge hits clotheslines and a pancake. Here's the Impaler! Edge makes the Spear Face, so Sheamus runs in and hits the Brogue Kick. Here's the portion of the match where everyone hits their finishers. Morrison hits the Flash Kick on Sheamus. Kane hits Morrison with the chokeslam. Cena hits Kane with the Attitude Adjustment. CM Punk hits Cena with the Go To Sleep. Here's an RKO for Punk. McIntyre swoops in and hits the Future Shock on Orton. Truth hits McIntyre with the Slater-vator, showing that not only can't he remember what town he's in, he can't even remember what his own finisher is. Barrett hits Truth with the Bossman Slam. Rey comes off the top and hits a flying headscissors on Barrett to set up the 619. Dolph runs in and gets dropkicked low to put himself in the 619 position, too. Rey hits the 1238! Barrett falls out of the ring and Dolph staggers into Edge's spear for the pin at an even 20 minutes shown.
WINNERS: Edge, Rey Mysterio, John Cena, Randy Orton, John Morrison & R-Truth - A very hot 12-man tag to start the show. Great match, even with the cliched finish at the end.
Now here's Vickie Guerrero to break my eardrums. She shows off last week's happenings and strips Edge of the title. She then fires Edge. Edge looks forlorn, as we go to our next...

Here's a clip of what we just saw a few seconds ago. Your hosts are Idiot #1, Idiot #2, and Not Stevie Ray. They argue about what just happened. They shoot it to a clip of Rey Mysterio's match with "Dashing" Cody Rhodes from last month.
Earlier this week, the demoted Todd Grisham caught up with Cody Rhodes. Cody's sporting a CLEAR plastic face mask, as he stands in the darkness! Oh, come on! No one could get him a Phantom of the Opera face mask? It worked for Undertaker! Anyway, here's Cody! "You get some sort of sick joy from introducing me like that, Todd? The world can't see the pain I've endured or the mental anguish, there's no point, it's not fair to them. Yeah, my operation was a success. But what about my opportunities FOR success? They've been destroyed. While other superstars like Rey Mysterio are on the Road to Wrestlemania, my journey...has been stalled before it could even get started. All because of some...some mask. It's not important. I shouldn't bad mouth Rey, it's a step backwards. I'm ten times the professional he ever could hope to be. I came here, instead, to announce that my doctors have cleared me for travel. Which means, next week on SmackDown I have a very important announcement for the WWE Universe. Thank you, Todd. That's all I have to say." Cody slinks away into the shadows.
Eve Torres and Beth Phoenix make their way into the ring for their match. That'll take us to our next...
Ad break - 2/21/11 promo
Here's a clip from the very first SmackDown! Dig the original SmackDown theme! Here's a slender Big Show chokeslamming X-Pac! Check out Chyna hitting Billy Gunn in the nuts! Chris Jericho powerbombs Road Dogg through a table! Ken Shamrock threatens Howard Finkel! Hey, we never DID get that Jericho/Shamrock blowoff, did we? Video package ends on a Rock/Triple H match, where referee Shawn Michaels turned on The Rock to end the show. It's great to look at now, until you remember that there was ZERO follow-up to that angle and Michaels went away for another six months after that show.
"THE GLAMAZON" BETH PHOENIX & EVE TORRES v. MARYSE & LAYLA The heels get no entrance. Michelle McCool joins the commentary team, because it's not like the commentary could get any worse, anyway. Michelle cites a foot injury, so she's out of action for a bit.
Maryse starts the match by slapping Beth in the face. Maryse tries to run away, but Beth powers her into the corner. Beth hits a corner avalanche and clothesline for 2. Maryse frantically tags Layla. Layla starts with a kick and armbar, before getting shoved down. Beth tries to power Layla up, but drops her. Tag is made to Eve, who comes in with dropkicks. Corner charge looks to eat boot, but Eve catches it and hits a suplex for 2. Eve looks for a sunset flip, but Layla counters with...something. Roundhouse kick misses and Eve hits a kick and clothesline. Michelle distracts Eve from the apron, so Beth whacks her in her injured foot. The heels hit an UGLY double kick on Eve, which gets Layla the pin at about 2:25.
WINNERS: Maryse & Layla - Quick two-minute special, but some of the spots were pretty ugly.
Coming up next, a recap of The Rock's big return.
Ad break - The Chaperone promo. Go see it! Or better yet, wait two weeks for it to hit Netflix...and ignore it anyway.
Your hosts are Josh Matthews, Michael Cole, and Booker T. They send it to The Rock's return from last Monday.
Later tonight, Dolph Ziggler is crowned World Heavyweight Champion.

Here's footage from the 9/13/01 SmackDown, which was taped on 9/11. Very patriotic feel. Here's Vince McMahon's promo. The superstar assembly is something to behold. And there's The Rock, draped in the American flag.
KOFI KINGSTON v. THE MIZ (w/ALEX RILEY): NON-TITLE MATCH God, I hate Michael Cole. He really does suck all the joy out of Miz matches.
We start with a wrestling sequence, with Miz getting the better of it. Miz takes Kofi down with a shoulderblock. Kofi looks for leapfrogs, but Miz stops himself. Kofi still gets an armdrag and a quick armbar into a hammerlock. Kofi hits a pair of crossbody blocks. Here's another one for 2 before going back to the armbar. Miz backs Kofi into the corner and starts hammering away. He stomps a mudhole in Kofi. Kofi fights back and whips Miz into the corner. He tries a Stinger Splash. It misses and Kofi's able to land on the second turnbuckle before Miz clips him. That takes us to our next ad break.
We come back with Miz in control. Kofi gets a backslide for 2. He gets a big kick, as both men trade blows. Kofi looks for the S.O.S., but it's countered as Miz shoves Kofi into the corner. Kofi comes right back with a 'rana into the corner. There's a dropkick for 2. Miz shoves Kofi into the corner. He looks for the straddling clothesline, but Kofi hits his high kick counter. Top-rope frog crossbody gets 2. Jumping clothesline is turned into the backbreaker/neckbreaker combo for 2. Kofi kicks Miz in the face. Both men try and dump each other, but each attempt fails. Kofi hits the jumping clothesline. Buzzsaw Legdrop hits. BOOM BOOM...but there's no third boom, because here's Alberto Del Rio strolling to the ring. Miz rolls up Kofi for 2 before Kofi reverses that into another 2. Kofi kicks Miz in the face, before he's suddenly assaulted by Del Rio with a play right out of the old high school playbook: the dreaded TOWEL SNAP! Yeowch! Kofi's distracted by this unorthodox method of distraction, which allows Miz to hit the Skull-Crushing Finale for 3 at 10 minutes shown.
WINNER: The Miz - Ok, I got a chuckle out of the towel snap. I won't lie.
Post-match, Alberto Del Rio comes in with the evil wink. Play Del Rio's music!
Your hosts are Three Morons. They run down the Top 10 List of the Longest Running Weekly Episodic TV Shows. Oh, I am SO not indulging this idiocy.
Later tonight, Dolph Ziggler gets coronated. But up next, the tag titles are on the line with Santino and Kozlov facing Slater and Gabriel.
Ad break - Elimination Chamber promo.
Here's a clip of the 2/19/04 SmackDown, Eddie Guerrero's first SmackDown as WWE Champion. THAT was a grand celebration. There really was only one Eddie.
JUSTIN GABRIEL & HEATH SLATER v. VLADIMIR KOZLOV & SANTINO MARELLA: WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH We get clips of last week, where The Corre dominated the tag champs and wiped out Big Show later that night. Gabriel and Slater watch the clip themselves and seem proud of their handywork. Matthews points out that next week The Corre could hold both the World Heavyweight Championship and the Tag Team titles.
We start with Kozlov and Gabriel. Kozlov overpowers Gabriel and catches a crossbody attempt, turning it into a fallaway slam. That brings out Barrett and Jackson.
Booker T: Ezekiel Jackson, this guy catch you in an alley, you know, coming from an ATM, you'd give him ALL your money. He wouldn't even have to rob you. You'd just give it to him.
Insert "Wendy's" joke here.
Barrett distracts Kozlov, allowing Gabriel to clip him from behind. Gabriel tags Slater, who goes to work on Kozlov, as The Chaperone crawl attacks again. Slater leaps at Kozlov, so Kozlov throws him down and tags out. Gabriel gets tagged in and gets wiped out with rights. Santino does the splits underneath a Gabriel boot and hits an armdrag. Here's the saluting gorilla press for 2. Kozlov takes Slater out, Santino kips up and hits THE COBRA~! That immediately brings in Barrett and Jackson for the DQ at two minutes.
WINNERS BY DQ: Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov - Two-minute special. Nothing to see here.
Post-match, the beatdown is on, but The Big Show runs down for the save. He wipes out Gabriel and Barrett. He chucks Slater in before taking Barrett out again. Kozlov helps out, Show dumps Barrett and then dumps Slater. Show wants Jackson. Jackson looks like he's about to oblige, until the other Corre guys call him back. Jackson tells Show there will be another day, as Show's music hits.
Here's a clip from the 12/13/01 SmackDown. Oh lord, it's the SUPERMARKET BRAWL with Booker T and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. Sadly, we only get bits and pieces of it, but this was GREAT when it happened! It was one of the last memorable moments of the Stone Cold Era. Afterwards, Matthews and Cole make fun of Booker, as Booker can only laugh about the whole thing.
The ring is getting set up. The Dolph Ziggler coronation is next.

Vickie Guerrero and Dolph Ziggler are in the ring. Ok, let's get this over with.
Vickie awards the title to Dolph. Dolph poses. But here's Teddy Long, who doesn't look too happy. He has a mic in hand, as he comes into the ring.
Teddy Long mocks Vickie's attempts at an investigation before pointing the finger at her. Vickie stammers, as Long tells her to shut up. Long's about to throw the hammer down before Vickie TOTALLY sells Dolph out and points out that it was all his idea. Long tells Dolph that he's defending the title right now and he's defending against the re-hired Edge.

DOLPH ZIGGLER v. "THE RATED R SUPERSTAR" EDGE: WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH We've got less than ten minutes to go in the show, so this won't take long.
Edge starts off as a house of fire, hitting Dolph with clotheslines. Edge makes the Spear Face and goes for it, but Dolph leapfrogs over it, sending Edge into the steel post. Dolph stomps away on Edge on the outside. He rolls Edge back in for 2. Dolph lets out his frustrations by choking Edge on the bottom rope. He follows that up by elbowing Edge on the apron. He covers for 1. Time to hit the chinlock. Edge fights out of it and tries a whip, but it's reversed and Dolph hits the Sleeper Hold! Edge fights out of it, but Dolph manages to hit the Rocker Dropper. Dolph wants the Zig Zag, but Edge elbows him off and hits the spear for 3!
WINNER AND NEW CHAMPION: Edge - Really? Are we counting this as a new title reign for Edge? Are we really counting this as a title reign for Ziggler? Ugh!
Post-match, Teddy Long's music hits, because Long's not done yet. Long doesn't take too kindly to Dolph attacking him, so Long fires Dolph! Just to rub salt in the wounds, Edge takes the mic. Edge says he was on the first SmackDown and he's on now with the world title. Edge wants to sing and...yeah, you know where it goes from here. Hey, dig that confetti!
End Show.
FINAL THOUGHT
Sooooooo yeah, unless Vince McMahon walks through that door on Sunday, then the SmackDown Chamber match is short a man. Adjust your PPV predictions accordingly.
Honestly, how much more of a mess can they make the Edge/Ziggler feud? These guys never got so much as a straight one-on-one match without gimmicks and other rampant stupidity completely mucking things up. For this feud to supposedly (mercifully) end on Ziggler getting a 10-minute title reign, Edge losing the title for two hours, and now teasing an empty Chamber slot is just absurd. These two really DID deserve to have a better feud than this and it marks two terrible feuds in a row for Edge.
This show gets a thumbs up for the opening match, but for a 600th episode, that felt pretty subdued. It didn't get nearly the fanfare that the 900th Raw got, which is unfortunate. It pretty much cements SmackDown as the B-show. I mean, of course it's the B-show, but they don't have to be so blatantly obvious about it.

I have a theory that "Dolph Ziggler" could be finished but Nic Nemeth will be back, perhaps with a new name and gimmick (which should please some of his detractors who can't get past the awful name).
Meanwhile, Dolph took to his Twitter last night and really sold the firing, dropping all kinds of "cryptic" hints. (Start from the bottom and read up.)

rofl ok, have to admit. That was cool. The tna, spike and dixie hints are funny ;)
I'm shocked there's only one mention of porn though. I checked hi s twitter out a while back and all he talked about was porn actresses. Or erhm...I heard from others that those were porn actresses. From a friend. Yeah. I swear.
It IS sort of lame that he has a 2 hour title run. Maybe they'll strike it from the records.
And I do hope he comes back soon and gets another good run. He would lose a lot of heat if he's without Vickie. But it might be good for him too. We'll see. (now watch him crash the EC on sunday)

Originally posted by redsoxnationHas Edge now very quietly and quickly moved into the Hunt for 17 picture?
Probably not since he's made it clear he intends to retire in the near future. (Granted, Booker T has been saying the same thing for several years but I believe Edge has been specific about his plans for retirement and has suffered a few more major injuries than Booker.)
The entirety of SmackDown the last couple months has been teasing a firing that ended up lasting about an hour, and y'all are really believing the next firing is going to last much longer? Please stop.

Very rare when someone at or near the top of the card walks away just to walk away, and then actually stays away.

Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read
Chris Jericho may be coming back to WWE Sunday night. A friend of his hinted something is up, and he's canceled his book signing for Monday night. It's very slight, but the open spot in the chamber makes this seem in the realm of possibility.
Rock coming back unadvertised delivered a rating that disappointed WWE. The lesson people thought they should lean is "advertise exciting stuff!", but maybe the lesson they've taken is "we need a lot of help for WM."
I haven't watched Smackdown in months, and I tune in and it's still the same old crap. Vicki being a bitch, Edge getting screwed, and a bunch of boring matches in between (okay, the first match was fun). This and Raw have done nothing to get me to tune in again regularly. ROH is going off the air, and TNA is a crock of shit. Pro Wrestling and I have grown apart I guess.
