I like 'em, they are the 60's uniform.
The burgundy is a little darker, the pants are yellow instead of white, and the helmet has the spear and feather, instead of the indian head [which will remain on the away helmets]
There is also a broad yellow sleave stripe, and the #'s will be on the shoulder, not the sleave
The away uniform will remain unchanged...

drew2 - who's still a little leery of the new Seahawks uniforms. I've seen the logo and it looks okay, but waiting to see if the helmets stay grey and if the jersey colurs change too much.
The Redskins franchise began in 1932 in Boston, Massachusetts. The team used the nickname "Braves". The team became known as the "Redskins" in 1933 and moved to Washington, D.C. in 1937.

I think he meant the the team being called the "Redskins" is not polictically correct and thus demeans native americans in a KKK like fashion.
As someone who had two great grandmothers (one on my Dad's side that was Cherokee and one on my Mom's that was Shawnee)that were native americans and whom with I spent time wiht the first 11 years of my life, I can tell they weren't offended though. But I can see the arguement.
Didn't In Living Color or one of those shows do a skit where new logos for sports teams were announced? I think one of them was Birmingham Klansmen, Witchita Whities, and stuff like like that. Basically it was the "if the shoe was on the other foot" kinda thing that ruffled some feathers at the time.
Anyway rikidozan, I think that what Eddie was getting at.
If I lived back in the wild west days, instead of carrying a six-gun in my holster, I'd carry a soldering iron. That way, if some smart-aleck cowboy said something like "Hey, look. He's carrying a soldering iron!" and started laughing, and everybody else started laughing, I could just say, "That's right, it's a soldering iron. The soldering iron of justice." Then everybody would get real quiet and ashamed, because they had made fun of the soldering iron of justice, and I could probably hit them up for a free drink.
well, i'm part native american, so he doesn't have to speak for me...i can do that on my own. and just for the record I am NOT offended with their name...

Thanks Big Kat. And fear my Soldering Iron of Justice!

No what i meant was the horrific racist history of the team, how they were literally forced by the NFL to put a black man on their roster (in the MID SIXTIES!!!). Read up on their previous owners, great pieces of work.

George Preston Marshall was indeed resistant to black players, but that sheets comment really was just stupid.

As Redskins fans, we must emphasize that the pants are gold, not yellow. Our colors are burgundy and gold. Gold. Gold. Gold.

Really? Talk to Bobby Mitchell. Ask him about the first banquet he had to attend as a Redskin.

Yeah, and I could talk to Jackie Robinson about his career with the Dodgers or any number of athletes in any number of sports about their hardships in being accepted and outcast. Racism happened. Racism is wrong. A rational person can't debate that. The Redskins as an organization CHANGED. I can also ask Bobby Mitchell if he's proud to be a Redskin and was proud to wear the burgundy and gold.
To paint the Washington Redskins as the last bastion of racism in the 1960s and the shining light of inspiration for racists through the years is completely ignorant.
