It's happened before. Then again, unlike those previous situations, they gave the Sin Cara character to someone else (I believe Hunico), and are instead telling Mistico to hit the bricks.
Also, was Mistico ever unmasked in WWE? It'd explain the lack of any pictures or video, as well as any uncomfortable conversations about why Sin Cara got cut, yet Sin Cara's still hoppin' around out there.

Mistico was never unmasked, but they referred to him by his given name when he received his drug testing suspension. (Despite the trampoline mishaps and missteps, that seemed liked the moment where everything went bad.)
There was some confusion about Mistico's status. He's been popping up in Mexico since February, and actually did a cameo as a mystery figure on AAA show in what now appears to be flagrant violation of his contract. Maybe most of this announcement is just to resolve that.
Or maybe it just shows WWE will absolutely not cut guys right now and both sides had to wait until the contract was up, because there's been no reason for him to be employed by WWE since October (WWE's last trip to Mexico, his last matches in WWE.)
Mistico's claiming he's getting the rights to use Sin Cara in Mexico starting in May. No one can figure out how that would be possible. He's also a bit erratic, which is good if you write a daily blog about lucha libre but probably not good if you actually have to deal with him.
They tried in every way possible to make the guy unique and special, which is a rarity these days. We might not have liked the lighting and trampoline, but it was different. Botching moves left and right and failing the drug test early on is what killed the character for me, not the mood lighting. Pointing at other wrestler as his only means of communication didn't help matter either.

You have a knack for cherry picking what you want out of posts and running with it, but that's your thing. I'm not letting him off the hook here, if anything the relationship was bad from the very start. That happens in life.
The shirt might not have made it to market for long, but if it had been a Dolph Ziggler or Zach Ryder shirt people's heads would have exploded as they tripped over themselves to cry burial and whatever else goes along with that.

So did Mistico design this shirt or something?
Or should this be more on the merchandising people who green light these things?
