Has anybody tried SimCity 2013? I have always LOVED SimCity, but I am getting turned off by all of the problems I keep reading about it in the media. I was hoping to get a honest opinion from the-W.com before I make a decision to buy or not. I admit I am not comfortable buying a game that forces the player to be online to play.
Remember this? Recall caring about this? If you still want to play SimCity but were holding out for an offline mode - they will soon be rolling out an offline mode. I like when my Twitter feed makes me laugh in the morning, so this was good stuff.
EA originally claimed the logic of the game wouldn't work offline, and then that it would be a significant effort to put an offline mode. It's not surprising they could actually do it, it is surprising they'd work to rehab a nine month old damaged game while showing they were kind of fibbing about the necessity of always online. I'm sure they've been working to make this game better all along but it's never going to shake off it's disaster of a start - you're going to find more people mocking EA than congratulating them today.
EA could've made a bigger splash by promising a new Sim City game where everything wrong is turned right. Maybe they damaged the Sim City brand so badly that a new Sim City game isn't in the plans any time soon?
There's no exact time line on the offline mode but I'm pretty sure you should let other people figure out if it works first.

I laughed too. Then I figured I'd buy it the next time I see it on sale, so I guess we know who's really laughing.
