You wanted the best, you got... Out of Context Quote of the Week.
"EMBRACE THE PENIS! LOVE THE PENIS! THE PENIS IS YOUR BEST FRIEND! Be..... the penis." (DEAN)Okay, so I just wanted to start a thread with that title.
Wrestling Observer's reporting that Linda Miles is getting shipped down to OVW, and that "the Shaniqua gimmick appears to be finished". Any thoughts on how this'll impact the Bashams? Thought she helped to reinforce their characters, and that they won't be nearly the same without her. (You decide how good that'll be.)
DEAN's Nuggets of Wisdom:
"A-Train could wear a Vampirella outfit and I would toast a load to it."
Well, that sucks. Without Shaniqua, we'll have to settle for watching Torrie and Sable's dumb Playboy feud, and Nidia's feud with Noble will be a mere footnote. The SmackDown! woman's roster now sucks more than ever.
It's fine with me, The Basham's will probally stand out more alone(my only problem with them was pre match spankings). Linda didn't really have any girls to wrestle anyway.
"dubya never talks while cheney is drinking water...check that shit out"
I'm all for the Bashams on their own. Linda just sucked out what energy they could have had whenever she appeared on the screen to just stand there on the side and beat her hand into the mat. There wasn't any reason for her being there beyond a lame S&M joke or two, and that was all done in her first appearance in that role. A good example of how a valet can kill any heat the talent have.
Linda had some matches in OVW, but she was never really that good (still better than Jackie, however). I would suspect that they want her back there to train harder in order to be able to match up with some of the women possibly coming up soon from OVW. That or they just want to hide her away somewhere until her contract runs out (or hoping she'll quit).
It's funny, out of the TE1 people you have one winner on the revolving injured list and the other as a valet. One of the losers from TE1 gets more airtime now than anyone else (Josh). For TE2 you have one winner that is being sent back down to OVW after spending months solely as a valet, and the other only getting over as a valet because she's willing to expose herself on-camera. Meanwhile, one of the losers is actually worked his way up the hard way to his spot on the show (Matt Morgan . . . okay, you can dispute me on that one, but he did spend longer in OVW than most anyone else from the show, AND got picked to be in OVW because he proved himself to Cornette and Davis there).
Meanwhile, you have two TE3 winners that have been down in OVW for months now and are doing moves like piledrivers in their television matches.
My guess is that WWE finally wised up and decided to let the guys train until they are ready for once.
Considering she hadn't wrestled a match yet and was being sent to OVW, why was she given a PPV title match? She could have tried to interfere in a match on TV and gotten taken out there, thus not splitting up any PPV money towards her. Its getting close to the point where it can be easily argued that the Tough Enough concept was an abject failure.
Can she please take Bashams go back to OVW with her. That duo is the most boring thing on television, they make me want to sob. I agree with DEAN, these guys look like WCW powerplant guys in WCW Saturday Night. Bashams are like Thunder & Lightning or High Voltage WITH LESS of a personality. Their look is so generic, their moves are incredibly dull. I can't see how anyone can find these guy the least bit interesting... There is like nothing at all to them to latch onto, they are the worst Tag Team and top 5 dullest performers in the E. I cringe everytime they come out. I'm not exaggerating these guys are really that painful for me to watch. I think I can take bad wrestling over boring wrestling like these guys. Except for the ball & gag move I can't think of a single move these guys do. You want to look the same, fine. But in my eyes they wrestle the exact same way too.
Shaniqua was the only interesting thing about that team At least she was unique, at least visually she makes you take notice... Don't know how her wrestling is but as a ring side presence she certainly more interesting then anything the Bashams offer. Could you tell I'm not high on the Bahsams LoL

Get your WWE CD copy autographed by Stone Cold Steve Austin, Chris Jericho, Trish Stratus and Lilian Garcia after Raw... Oh MY! Christmas has come late. Can't get better then that.
I'd say that it's (still) too soon to call it an abject failure.
If nothing else, they got Matthews out of the deal, who, with some seasoning on Velocity, is the next Mike Tenay, for whatever that's worth to people who aren't me.
They had a successful reality show on MTV for three seasons, and that counts for something.
Maybe Jackie and Linda are lost causes. And I think it's premature to knock on Hennigan and Cappotelli.
Maven, it may be time to cut. I get the feeling he's as over as he'll ever be, and as good a worker as he'll ever be.
But man, oh man, I loves me some Nowinski. I understand he's taking acting classes to hone his charisma, and I think he's going to work hard to iprove his ringwork when he coes back from his concussion. I just hope it's before the fans forget him entirely.
Beady's Corollary to Occam's Razor: "The likeliest explanation of any phenomenon is almost always the most boring."
Maybe now they'll let The Bashams escape from this lame gimmick and actually show some personality, which they showed lots of in OVW, especially Damaja. If people saw tapes of them as singles in OVW they would absolutely flip. Just like if people saw Rico in OVW, they'd be shocked.
Shaniqua added nothing to Smackdown, IMO and I won't miss her one bit.
Unless they do a really thorough gimmick makeover on the Bashams, I don't see what this does for them. The BDSM gimmick, silly as it was, was the only thing unusual or outstanding about them; take that away and you've got two bald guys in black pants. The wrestling I've seen out of them so far is decent but not in the class of, say, WGTT, and I haven't seen anything to suggest that they're the sort of guys who can light up the crowd by sheer force of personality.

Yeah...it sounds to me like the Bashams are in for a gimmick change too....the gimmick didn't have much mileage as it is (I'm STILL trying to figure out what their gimmick was- just guys that like S&M?), and to get a tag-title run out of it is more than anyone expected. At the least, maybe they do some jobbing on Velocity, and the E promotes London and Kidman to Smackdown.
Heh, when I saw the title of this thread, I was expecting Shaniqua to have been released, and it wouldn't have surprised me a bit.
If they decide to keep the Bashams as-is they'd do well to pair them up with Sable. She's got a bit of the domme attitude, it might give them a bit more visibility, and it'd keep her doing something that didn't involve Vince's tongue.

Their gimmick had nothing to do with why they weren't showing a lot personality. That was the fault of whoever decided they'd never be allowed to speak, despite being pretty good the couple of times they were. I don't think an S&M gimmick is lame in and of itself, but this one was. But where was the post-loss backstage "punishments", where was the haliburton full of sex toys, where was the blood test for STD's before every match. They didn't exploit this one to even half its potential.
I like Shaniqua. I don't think you can use her on RAW because she looks like she could crush the entire women's roster with one tit.
I'd tell you to kiss my ass, but I don't want to get it infected.
Just to point out my own perspective about the whole TE thing - I think they made good choices with Maven and Nidia the first year. Nidia has done some funny stuff as a valet (which isn't an easy gig to pull off, as Miles has proven). Maven has just had a really tough time of it the past year with injuries and family problems, but I like him.
Nowinski has proven himself to be good on the mic - a great attention-grabber in the ring. He just needs to get a chance to not be injured and to work some matches to build up his abilities during a match.
I'm one of the few here that readily supports Matt Morgan, because I think he's done some good work in OVW and got the short end of the stick by being brought up a tad too soon. I think he's one to keep an eye out on in the future. If people don't like him now, however, I can't completely blame them. But blame the creative end for that one.
Matt and John from TE3 have shown to be the best winners picked from the three seasons of the show. They definitely appear to be not only fans, but dedicated to the craft, and I think they'll work out fine when moved up.
The only sour spots in the winners from the show is Jackie and Linda. But I think that just goes to show how bad the majority of the people in TE2 were - these two actually WERE the best of that group! In a way I do feel sorry for Jackie - every story I've heard from people connected with OVW has been that she's dedicated, has the drive, but has problems picking up the skills.
I can't feel much sympathy for Linda, however. That's partly due to the creative people forcing her on the Bashams and giving them little to do but stand there. Like I said before, maybe the thinking is that they can rework and train her a bit more to do some serious wrestling instead of just being eye-candy.

Someone should tell Vince. Actually i was gonna make a joke here but it got me thinking - whats the point of Tough Enough? Alright Al Snow is on it (anyone who read the legend of the penis suplex has to burst out laughing everytime they see him)and its a good way to get ppl over before they hit the ring but goddamn it produces some rubbish

I thought there was some great ideas in the concept, especially in the first season in giving people who were not wrestling fans (i.e. MTV viewers) a reality show that introduced the coolness of the art to them.
I think they would have been better off doing two things, however:
1) Gotten people who had been training as wrestlers for at least a time. If everyone had been at Nowinski's level or more, it would have been a better show. Not to mention that there's plenty of people who are that young that have been training for some time.
2) Concentrated on the varying aspects of the wrestling life - being on the road, learning how to tell storylines, trying to get from one city to the next in a junker car that will break down three times and make you late to the next city. Those are the reality elements that make for exciting storylines, not the REAL WORLD stuff that happened in TE2 with "Hot-tubs-a-hoppin'!"
Moot points, however. They haven't done one in a year now and the chances of a TE4 are pretty dim, so everyone won't have to worry about that, I would think.

Oh, but her intimidation factor could be a SELLING POINT if done correctly. If Linda Miles can learn ANYTHING about wrestling down in OVW, then she could potentially shake up Raw's women's division. Give Trish and Victoria some new competition. Or better yet, use her as a tag partner for Jazz and create a dominant female duo for Theodore Long.
Edge: So Triple H wants me to come to Raw and fight him for the big gold belt. I've TOTALLY passed you on the card. Jericho: Yeah, but while Triple H is burying you, I get to make out with Trish in front of millions. You tell ME who the winner is here, junior!
Problem with Colt is that he is a comedy wrestler, and even though he can work serious (the Homicide feud), it is really hard to give him the cred as a legit top guy. Same way I felt about Stevie Richards during the ECW days.
