If I'm not mistaken, didn't he get destroyed by Tito Ortiz in his fight before that? Besides, Shamrock's gotta be getting up there age wise...tough or not, you can only compete in no holds barred fights for so long before your body says enough. Worked matches don't, I can only assume, take nearly as much out of you when you're only working spot shows. He could be getting ready to move on.
There's still money in a rematch with him and Tito because Ken took the first fight with a knee injury and a bunch of other excuses that could be used to spark interest in another fight.
I just heard an interview with Ken about a week ago and he's not looking to stop fighting yet.

I believe that on ESPNews, he said he was 40 (or they did). He did also mention that he quit wrestling because of the travel; he actually loved performing. So if he's going to make a comeback, TNA would be right up his alley.

Shamrock was highly effective and paid off all his hype upon coming into the old WWF. I own the Best of RAW (vol 1 & 2) DVD and it includes the Corporation and Ministry stables among other big things that happened between 1998 and 2000. Shamrock was a heel in the Corporation and watching him the other night on the DVD reminded me how tired his act got.
If he can create a good buzz in TNA, then great. But I don't see him making lightning strike twice with the WWE. Vince probably has interest, but I can't see it working out... as much as I wouldn't mind seeing him as a face on Smackdown. He would make a perfect rival for Angle - a loose cannon who nobody can control. Ah well.

The last time Shamrock fought Tito, it got major mainstream exposure. Coming off a highly succesful victory over Kimo last Saturday, a Tito rematch is already in the works. With Dennis Rodman and now Shamrock coming in, whether high or low, a minor buzz is being created and TNA has alot of momentum right now. Shamrock is still a big name and brings credibility to TNA, so his presence can only be seem as a benefit.

Do those dvds feature the greatest babyface faction of all time: The Union?
Shamrock, Foley, the Big Show and Test...swinging 2x4's.
That's entertainmnet.

Am I the only one who remembers that Shamrock's LAST TNA run tanked? Shamrock bombed as champion and his mic skills were awful while he was champion. I really can't believe TNA would invest in him again.
But at least Shamrock makes more sense than Dennis Rodman, who has done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING of note in the last 3 years.
Enjoy the fresh taste of Chavo Classic and New Chavo! (Disclaimer: Exposure to Chavo Classic and/or New Chavo may lead to offbeat shenanigans)

Shamrock also carries name credibility via his MMA, and that's amplified again since he just wailed on Kimo. If he does go to TNA it will be without UFC's blessing, since UFC wants nothing to do with wrestling and has turned down cross promotional offers and ideas from TNA before.
As for Shamrock the fighter, he's still in remarkable shape and can hang. He's not an elite fighter and hasn't been for many, many years, but he's a name and a draw in MMA, so as long as he's in the shape to do it and wants to, he'll be fighting. Shamrock/Ortiz II will be a money fight for UFC as it pits two perenially overrated loudmouths that the fans just loooove.
Kurt either needs the money or they have no one to feud with James til they want him to go after Bobby on PPV or Kurt wants the attention. I have no idea why anyone in their right mind thinks we care about the Bischoff family.
