I went to see this today and was really disappointed. I knew going in it what type of movie it was and had very high hopes for it to be very funny, but it fell very flat.
I do not have a problem with cursing or crudeness, but when the whole movie seems to be based around how many curse words they can say during the course of the movie, it goes from funny to annoying.
The potential was there. it could have been really funny. But like most Seth Rogan and Friends movies, it could have benefited from less ad lib and more script.
This could have been a well made PG-13 movie if in the right hands and it would have made a ton of money from all the teen age boys who would have went to see it. In the hands of a better writer, this could have been much, much, much better.
I compare it to Team America. That was a smart well written comedy that was hysterical. And there are "similar" scenes in both (I won't give it away) - Team Americas' was done much better and was way funnier than Sausage Party.
Again, too bad. Great concept with poor execution.
Life is hilariously cruel.
It ain't the six minutes... it's what happens in that six minutes.
I have to disagree. Going in I knew it was going to be sophmoric and stupid and just prepared my brain for "stupid fun" and this thing delivered.
Some of the jokes were a bit gross, but like you said, you could expect that going in. Overall I thought it was really entertaining, with a few moments of social commentary thrown in.
