RAW Satire 12/9 Vikings (3-10) -You've got to play, you know, both halves. Badgers (7-6) - The Alamo Bowl? Oh boy? Buffy 7.Blah Ah, the long stretch of bordem between new episodes...
Eddy is/was a better heel, and better worker, than Angle. Angle is good, but Eddy & Benoit are better.
GUERRERO RULES: Eddie Guerrero has consistently been the best worker in the world throughout this year. Jeff Hardy delivered great performances as usual. Chris Jericho never had a better year as a worker.
OK, how does this guy go from the 1st sentence to the 2nd? Jeff delivered "great performances"?
Billy & Chuck as 2nd worst tag team? They were having some good matches on SD (against Helms/Moore and Tajiri/Knoble). Sure, the gimmick was a bit iffy, but they were having some decent matches.
Worst Rookie of the year: John Cena, Jamie Noble and Randy Orton
1st of all, Knoble on any "worst" list is just wrong. But "rookie"? Somebody wasn't watching WCW (well, probably a *lot* of somebodies. *I* was watching).
Matthew: You would've loved it, David. A week in a foreign country, strange people, strange customs... Dave: Oh, I know what you mean. I've been to Canada.
Wow, Angle and Benoit owned the awards this year! Gotta love it. Best wrestler: Kurt Angle (2nd place: Chris Benoit). Best worker: Kurt Angle (2nd place: Chris Benoit). Best feud: Chris Benoit vs. Kurt Angle. Best tag-team: Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle. Best heel: Kurt Angle. Best technical wrestler: Chris Benoit by a hair over Kurt Angle. Damn, 316-309 is about as close as it gets. Favorite wrestler: Kurt Angle. Best match: Benoit and Angle vs. Mysterio and Edge. Best interviewee: Kurt Angle. Is it any wonder that SmackDown! won the “best show” award for the very first time this year?
I agree with the guy who said that after awhile, you get sick of typing the same three or four guys' names in all day! LOL... NOT THAT I'M COMPLAINING! These two guys, plus Guerrero, have been the cornerstones of WWE during a time when it looked like the rest of the fed was going completely insane.
Man, I missed having Chris and Eddie around! And judging by this year's awards, everyone else missed them, too.
On the other side of the coin:
Triple H owned the awards, too-- albeit in just about every negative award possible. Worst heel and worst face? Ouch. Most overrated wrestler went to Triple H as well, only two years removed from when he was voted best wrestler overall. And Hulk Hogan, who's owned this list throughout most of its history, finished nowhere close to the top of the list this year-- despite his WWF/E title reign that many (although not I) have called a failure.
Least favorite wrestler, most deteriorated wrestler, worst character angle with the necrophilia, worst feud (vs. Kane), worst interviewee, worst angle, worst promotional move-- damn, did this necrophilia thing backfire, or what?
Surprising awards, in my view:
Yes, we all know Jackie Gayda sucked. But she only wrestled two or three matches, right? I don't think it warrants all the negative awards given her. Yes, she does suck. But damn.
I wasn't really all that surprised when Booker T won the best face award, but I suspected that RVD would probably inch him out. Nope.
The RAW team of Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler went from first to worst in one year. Jim Ross was denied his 11th consecutive best announcer award, losing in a very tight battle to SmackDown! announcer Michael Cole. What a hell of a feather in Cole's cap, especially since he was universally thought to be one of the worst announcers around for the last couple of years.
By contrast, Tazz thrashed every other comer in earning the Best Color Analyst award. And like Cole, I think Tazz deserves it. I just didn't expect it to be such a blowaway victory.
But I was shocked that Jim Ross “won” the worst announcer award, and the vote wasn't even all that close. I was even more shocked when Jerry Lawler blew out Lita to “earn” worst color analyst “honors”. I'm not a Lawler fan, but Lita's a cure for insomnia.
Well, anyway... to summarize...
Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit own you, me, and everybody. And the next time somebody calls you a HHHater, be sure to direct them to the RSPW Awards, because it's clear you're not the only one, by far.

Yeah good to see a lot of love for the Smackdown 6. Would have liked to see more recognition for Booker and Jericho but I guess they ain't helped much by being on RAW.
Agree that theres folk out there who warrant more hatred than Jackie given her relatively short TV time. It became kinda cool to bash her though after the phantom bulldog match.
Not to sure about HHH being up there for worst worker either. Most overrated maybe but come on, the guy tries his damndest in the ring regardless of whethre he's working through an injury or not, unlike some who are quite happy to pussy out and go home at the first sign of pain.
::pats herself on the back:: I made my RSPW debut this year! How'd I do? It was hard for me to vote for HHH in the worst categories, but I had to do it, it's a principle thing, and besides, I don't want people to think I'm just another cocksucker of his, blind to his faults. It's pretty obvious that's not even close to the truth with me. He pissed me off quite a bit in the last year, then again a lot of things did. I just voted for things that pissed me off the least, and I did vote for Eddie Guererro a few times. Good to see that my votes DO count.

No, they didn't. Eddy lost. I'm holding you personally responsible.
Matthew: You would've loved it, David. A week in a foreign country, strange people, strange customs... Dave: Oh, I know what you mean. I've been to Canada.
I'm curious to know what the voter turnout was for recent years. I know these are popular internet opinions, but we're only talking about the voice of a hundred people or so. Any ideas?
Professional wrestling isn't a hobby. It's a lifestyle.
According to the archives on /slash, there were 600 votes submitted in 2000 (the highest ever, sayeth CRZ) and 300 in 2001. So a drop to 100 this year continues a pretty grim-looking trend.
Lump me in with those who think Eddie got cheated -- out of Best Heel if nothing else. And while I'm no Triple H fan, it's a bit extreme for him to sweep the Worsts so completely. Most Deteriorated when Kevin Nash's muscles are popping off and flying into the stands every time he tries to move?
Aserje ja de je de jebe tude jebere sebiunouba majabi an de bugui an de buididipi!
I think HHH is a good choice for most deteriorated. I mean Nash has sucked for years but HHH came from wrestler of the year to this. I think he's had a biggest drop off. Even though Nash was in my top 3 for his inability to do any sudden moving without his muscles tearing all over the place.
I'm really happy and surprised that Trish won most improvement. I thought Matt Hardy or Edge might sneak in. But I think Trish is the right choose form November to November no one improved more. I think she's the first woman to win a positive award (not including best second). She always seems very proud of her wrestling maybe someone should e-mail this to her. She'll put it up on her wall. But maybe we should edit out the worst match category before we send it to her LOL Let's hope she becomes better like Austin(92) & Rock(98) and not Luger(90) or Bagwell(93). I'll pick the former
As for the worst match. I really think people got Trish/Miles vs. Molly/Gayda (finished 2nd) match confused with the mixed match from hell. That womens match was perfectly fine. Well I still think the next 3 PPV main events right after Wrestle Mania were the worst matches to sit through
The most surprising was Jim Ross as worst PlaybyPlay. I still voted him as the best (just a bit above Cole). Odd Ross actually had more 1st place votes then Cole did. Ross just missed out of 1st place, which would make him 1st in best and worst category. I'm sure THAT never happened. As for worst PbyP The Coach is just awful on heat. I agree on the best/worst color selection.
(edited by Net Hack Slasher on 11.12.02 2311) Oh they have the internet on computers now!
As for the amount -- hopefully it's peaks and valleys.
As for the commentary/PbP -- Cole got my vote because he's the most improved. It's like in Iron Chef -- what has JR done to improve, if not keep his "high" standards? IMO, nothing. Challenger Cole wins.
Tazz should be a lock for the purists, only because he's one of the only people calling moves and spots. And he doesn't scream "HLA!" or "Puppies!" at random times.
Well, that certainly gave me a good laugh. It shows how fucked-up people's perceptions and priorities are when the Most Disappointing News Item isn't that a legend of the sport let his demons get the better of him, but that the big, bad corporation pissed him off and forced him to leave. I'm not asking you to hate Austin, I'm not asking for him to be villified, truth be told I'll probably mark out like a bitch when he returns. But if you weren't disappointed when you heard what he'd done-even if it's a one-off-then I've got no time for you.
And don't get me started on the ridiculous HHH hatred.
Murdoch had just made the mistake no man should...He kissed a big angry black guy
I noticed that a promotion called the AWF won worst promotion and worst show in 1996. Why haven't i heard of them before? If they got enough votes to win they must have been fairly well known. can anybody provide some info?

The drop to 100 this year pretty much equals how low it got during the "dark period" in 1994-1995. So, hopefully wrestling's at its low ebb.
It's also worth noting that there was practically no website advertisement of the RSPW awards happening this year, unlike in previous years, where there were links from several message boards and Slash/Wrestling itself. The only reason I remembered to vote was a little voice telling me, "hey, where are the awards this year?" followed by a search on Google News. So there's that to consider as well.

Well, I was certainly dissappointed, and shocked too. But if it is only a one-off, eventually I'll grow back into him. For now, it's touch and go.
Goddamn Cena is the most annoying unfunny jerk on the planet. You want to book him as the top unbeatable guy, FINE. I can live with another five years of Cena as the top face if they want, just HAVE HIM SHOW SOME FEAR.
