"Trade Me".

Nice show of loyalty to the team that backed him up and stuck by him through everything pulling a Vince Carter/Terrell Owens like this. I like how he talks about being a more focal point on the offense but he's willing to be LeBron's backup or go play for the most demanding, player-handcuffing coach in the league.

Worst part is since he's so underpaid (~$6M), it'll be mighty hard for the Pacers to get equal value for him. They may have to go after Peja after all.

Not cool for Indy. Not cool at all.

Sounds good for the Pistons though. Not that they seem to need such a break in the conference this year.

What a wacko.

Salary cap & trade values aside, I know lots of teams out there could use a player like Artest, but does anyone even WANT him at this point?

I stood by him before the Auburn Hills incident, got extremely pissed off at him and said he could go fuck himself after the incident, but when he started this season seemingly as a model citizen, I'd forgiven him-- even though it meant Reggie had to retire without a championship.

Now, Ron Artest-- you can go fuck yourself. Let's trade him to Toronto, and maybe he'll be more appreciative. Or to some other team that's going nowhere anytime soon. Or let's trade him to Atlanta and get Al Harrington back.

I don't care. I just don't want him on my team anymore.

So is Artest the TO of basketball or do I have that reversed?

I agree with Eke. As with all players that demand a trade, I think he ought to be traded to the worst team in the league just to prove a point. If Indy isn't good enough for him send him to Atlanta or Toronto and let him go wild. Then again, he said he wants to go to NY and that might be just as bad with Isaiah running the show.

Yes, please trade him to NYC. The New York media pressure and everything there might make him crazy enough to fulfill the Bill Simmons dream of him being wheeled onto the court like Hannibal Lecter.

Ha! In fairness, though, I saw some who said something similar about Latrell Sprewell, and he was a media darling during his stint with the Knicks.

The fans of NY will love Artest because of how he plays the game. As crazy as he is, he loves basketball and it shows on the court. He comes to play every game.

I would love it if Isiah made a deal for him, but most likely, we would also have to take Austin Croshere. In terms of trading back, you know Larry wants Frye and that could be a sticking point. Lord knows I would LOVE IT if he took Marbury and Crawford.

Well, that's just drunk talk! Sweet, beautiful drunk talk....

I really do think the Knicks will be the only takers for Artest at this juncture. The problem is, New York might try and use this as an opportunity to unload some of their albatrosses and that just won't happen. There's no way Indy hands over Artest in exchange for perennial losers like Marbury or Hardaway who will disrupt the Pacers' winning formula.

More than likely, Artest might end up with a team that's completely off everyone's radar. Something like Ron Artest: Orlando Magic or even Ron Artest: Houston Rocket. Who knows? Ron Artest playing for Houston just might help Jeff Van Gundy save his job.

I'd watch every damn game if that was his intro.

Just kidding!

Well, I usually give Artest the benefit of the doubt, but even *I* have to admit that making such a quick about-face is at least slightly nuts. It probably won't matter at this point though, especially considering the alleged high number of quality trade offers.

Too bad. If I'm the GM of the Pacers, he's done. Jermaine O'Neal and half of Ron's teammates want nothing to do with him anymore. Ron's let us down one too many times, and now it's time for him to go.

George Karl FIRED ... Click Here (espn.go.com) Probably best for both parties as the Bucks are going to be hurting for awhile with the losses of almost all their key players of the past couple of years.
