The voice of every summer I have ever known has passed away at the age of 75. Click Here (seattletimes.nwsource.com) Niehaus was a very good tv guy, but he was an excellent radio man. I spent many a summer night, pre internet pre 162 games on tv, listening to the guy give us bad baseball and yet give it to us in a way where we just kept listening not just for the baseball, but for the stories as well. He's been with the Mariners since the begining and was never afraid to call them out when they stunk.
On one of my last trips out to Seattle he autographed a HoF Dave Niehaus bobblehead for me at Safeco. Mariners baseball and summers in the North West will never quite be the same.
I had a bad feeling when I got into the car and they were playing his call of Edgar's Division Series-winning double in 1995 for what otherwise would have been no reason, but I assumed it was because he was retiring. RIP.

Farnsworth has been picking up the peices by not letting teams score more runs than the Yankees. Then there's Rivera, who's still ten times the pitcher Papelbon is. ZING.
