Sad news from the hockey world today: Herb Brooks, coach of the "Miracle on Ice" 1980 gold medal USA hockey team (and last year's silver medalists in Salt Lake City), has died in a car crash. (ESPN.com)
In addition to his storied NCAA and NHL career, he's enshrined in the United States(USHockeyHall.com) and international Hockey Halls of Fame.
I am sure Roger Neilson and Herb Brooks coaching some pretty good team right about now....
Sad summer for hockey...it really is....
"You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, the tallest guy in the NBA is Chinese, the Swiss hold the America's Cup, France is accusing the U.S. of arrogance, Germany doesn't want to go to war, and the three most powerful men in America are named 'Bush', 'Dick', and 'Colon. Need I say more?"
Christ. Truly a black day for the hockey community. Hopefully the world can learn from all this mess and smarten up, especially on the road. Hell, imagine how Dany Heatley's feeling right now. Torn ACL, out for a long time...
