I vividly recall the last fight of his career, a loss to Ali. I was a huge Ali fan at the time, and even though the outcome was never really in jeapordy, the fans got their money's worth.
By manymany accounts a great guy, would have been a tremendous light heavy, not the best heavy champ.
Would have loved to see him fight the real top contenders when he was champ, but his handlers skillfully avoided the likes of Nino Valdez and Cleveland Williams in favor of Roy "Cut and Shoot" Harris and Pete Rademacher.
Still, he always gave his best, and he represented the country proudly in the Olympics. RIP Floyd.
