Originally posted by TheBucsFanI don't think I like how Ross and Lawler are selling Rock's injuries. Sure, I'm glad it's getting lots of attention, I mean the man DID (supposedly) get hit by a semi. But he's not DEAD, and nobody is going to believe he is.
Of course, you fully realize that if Austin had smashed a Kenworth into an ambulance carrying Hogan - and then stopped to drink beer - JR would be yelling "STONE COLD! STONE COLD! MY GAWD THE RATTLESNAKE!"
I agree, this overserious overselling is a bit much - this is not the Owen Hart freefall, guys!
The police were on the scene pretty quickly after they dented in that ambulance, I must say. You'd think that pumper would be watering down the area to lessen the risk of explosion - but perhaps they're saving the explosion for 10:07.

I don't get this train of thought. What are they supposed to do. Act like he has a hangnail? That was one of the worst beat downs we've seen someone get in quite awhile. They should be selling it like he's dead. Selling it like the Rock is seriously hurt isn't showing Owen any disrespect.
As far as JR, that's true, it's damn true. By as a face announcer, that's what I would expect him to do. This is a situation where having a heel color man would make things work so much smooter.

Meaning that HHH will knock Jericho's head against the stairs and Angle will end up kissing him?
"Nobody loves the custodian. I come and I sweep and vacuum for you. When you're in the mood to go to the bathroom, I even disinfect it for you! This is the thanks I get?!? All who defy me shall be dis-infected!"
Now that was a fine main event. Great mic work by Jericho...that part where he was fired up yelling at JR was great. And then at the end...Jericho standing on the table...THAT will make me buy Wrestlemania. Not vehicular homicide. ;-)
Great RAW, though I'm sure many will find reason to wet their pants and cry about it.
Well, it was an OK Raw...certainly helped by a great main event. The opening promo left me sort of flat. I've seen Austin taken off in cuffs before. The Rock/Hogan promo was good, and did get me perked up for Wrestlemania. If nothing else, you have to wonder who does the J-O-B then. But the whole ambulance thing left me a little disappointed...because what do you do now? Have Rock come out on Smackdown and shoot him from the rafters? Imagine that call; if you will. Cole: "My GOD! Those sick dogs are picking off the Rock's bodyparts! The Rock has been shot!" I think they went too big too quick on that one. I also think they should have waited and done that angle at the end of the show. It threw off the pacing for the rest of the Raw Zone.
But then if it gets people talking, then the angle did what it was supposed to do. Hmm.
And I thought the coolest moment of the night was going to be Hogan responding to the WHAT? chant with "'chu gonna do?"
And no one in the crowd seemed to realize he`d done that.
OK, I`m never the type to piss and moan about things..but...
Rock/Hogan promo = aside from calling it a "Main Event", damn that was awesome. Totally sold me on their match, just the promo. Total outstanding markout moment.
nWo beatdown = yeah, why not? Heel heat and all that.
vehicular atack = it`s all been done before
Lawler using his serious tone and saying "this isn`t wrestling, this is real" = too close to Owen. Greatly upset me. I know they really need to turn the crowd against the nostalgia-face-pops for the nWo, but they should never use the "serious/reality" tone again. And didn`t we just have a Rocky injury angle?
Aside from all that...RVD & Edge vs. Goldust & Regal was sweet, hopefully those 4 will meet at WM X-8 for the IC title. I loved Edge`s submission move. And the main event ruled, especially Jericho`s commentary. I still think Angle will get back into the main event (what else is he going to do at WM?).
What wrestling there was, I liked. I'll reserve judgment on the attempted vehicular homicide until I see what they do with Rock. If he pulls a Triple H and is back next week, I'll give it a thumbs down.
I think they should have waited to do an HHH-Angle rematch, but they could have him lose the shot again sometime over the next month. I dug the spot where Angle uses Jericho to distract the ref.
Loved Perfect's reaction to the pyro, but I hope they find something better to do with him soon.
And I think Rock was a great choice for a second NWO target. Like Austin, he doesn't have any real friends, so it's realistic to have him not get any help.
Lawler was so shook up he couldn't get excited by the escorts!
Bill Savage went over to the (Stu Hart) house and one of the Hart kids was running around with his hair wet. Savage asked why his hair was wet. Stu said, "The little bastard broke a vase this morning, so I stuck his head in the toilet. Want me to show you again?" From the Ring Around the Northwest newsletter
I hate the NWO. I hate the fact Rock will probably lay down to this dinosaur. I hate the Chicago fans, Hogan was right for once, for even cheering Hogan and the other two useless characters. I hate the idea that even with those facts in mind, this was a great Raw.
My friends all looked at me like I was crazy when I started calling for Hogan's legdrop after the jack knife. I felt vindicated when he actually did it and the Chi-town crowd marked out for it as much as I did!
I agree with an earlier post. I though Edge was gonna teach the Rock the right way to do the sharpshooter but then he turned it into whatever the heck that was. Pretty damn cool move I must say. I love submission holds
Not enough matches on this show, but tonight's program got enough storylines in motion that we should have plenty of good matches leading up to WM.
I'm more shocked by the fact that Mr. Perfect threw his towel out into the crowd...AND THEY THREW IT BACK!
Then he threw it again and yelled at them to keep it! Most excellent!
I thought the Rock bit was crap after the Rock Bottom...but they saved the whole segment with the beatdown and the subsequent semi-attack! I think that definately help cement the NWO as a threat in my eyes.
Thoughts on the rest of RAW... (and smilies a plenty!)
-The hell was that move Edge used?
-Is Rock going to join the "No Sell Death" club? Someone had to say it!
-Holy Monkey! Hall picked up The Rock up high on that Razors Edge! I was not expecting that!
-Mr. Peftect...nuff said
-Did anyone else think that a bunch of homeless people were attacking the ring when the Hardy's came out?

I can't thank you enough for writing these. They have quickly become my favorite weekly internet reading. And like ShippeWreck, I needed the video accompaniment.
